Complete noob to poslishing here. Last time I detailed my car, I didn't use any polishing products, just used a clay bar and 3 layers of NXT 2.0.

This time however, I'm convinced that I might need some polishing, I don't know how abrasive should I go before I start burning or ruining my paint though. Advices please.

I"ll be using a dual action orbital polisher with it.

Any advice would be welcomed too. Thanks.

I would prefer something that could be bought on amazon, since i have free 2 days shipping with it.
So far I've looked at meguiar's ultimate compound, ultimate polish, swirlx...

Anyone?

Ultimate compound is a good start. It is not super aggressive but it well get you comfortable using an orbital.it will be good to develop you technique with that coming first before getting something super aggressive. Make sure to use a white pad with the compound. I actually have a diy thread somewhere and I am using ultimate compound in it.

Hm... What abt M105 the "Ultra-Cut" Compound?

paimon.soror 03-19-2012 11:46 AM

M105 is my favorite when I need to do color corrections on cars, fantastic product. Check Autogeek.net because they have bogo from time to time on it. Also I suggest using m205 after to protect the paint

Always start with the least abrasive polish. You can always thereafter go more aggressive if needed, but not vice versa.

Used to use M105, but lately switched to HD Uno as it's the new rave. Easier to use than M105, and you can use it for compounding, polishing, and finishing by just changing pads for each step.
