I belive it's a common thing with stainless steel and very hot temperatures.

OEM tips are double-walled, and so there is nowhere near as much direct heat.

So exhaust tips that are double walled like Hymee's Enhanced exhaust don't turn gold either.

Yea Hymee!

I thought the MS exhaust is also doubled walled? Maybe I don't understand what this actually means. Are you referring to the tips or the muffler?

I think double-walled refers only to the tips. Notice how the OEM muffler goes plenty yellow on the canister.

I recall reading an argument that a single-walled tip is thicker and thus resonates less, reducing buzziness of the sound (perhaps this is a contributing factor to the "depth" of the sound of the Racing Beat exhaust).

Yes I was just referring to the tips.

The RB tips are rolled inward.

The Greddy SP2 is rolled outward.

I have never heard that the tips would reduce resonation. I think the muffler portion is the main contributiong factor in not buzzing.

doesn't really matter its just the tip, the muffler design is what makes the difference. It also has to do with the quality of the metal.

OEM doesn't bronze not because it is double walled it is because of its design the exhaust itself doesn't connect directly with the tip, its actually seperated versus most exhaust designs which the start of the tip actually connects to the muffler pipes causing more heat transfer to the tips.

Hymee's Enhanced will gold as well but only on the edges and it's very slight (you have to look hard to notice.) The outside of the tip doesn't gold. Biggest headache is keeping the inside of a tip that big clean. Fortunately I can fit my entire hand in the exhaust tips and I just rotate my hand.

So we do have another inside-the-pipe polisher!
That's a good thing to know when the guys stab at me for admitting it...

peter, I just posted an answer to this in the other thread.

Chrome Polish and hot environment is a superb chrome polish first and foremost.
It is good at removing bluing from chrome and gold from stainless exhausts.
Excellent polish for use on any metals that have to endure extreme heat

I can't get the stuff in Canada

My RB tips turned gold on my first drive...

This was the reply:

You'll have to get somebody in the US to pick up a bottle for you.
All best,

DB,

I've got two bottles in my garage and only one has been opened. With the amount you use this stuff, it would be ten years before I could use it up. Let me know and I'll send ya the un-opened one! I do have paypal and let me see what I paid for it. I'm not looking to make any money on it.
WTF......why no Cananda?

US site is in Belfast, Maine..................that's just about as far away as they could get from you!

Home page is http://www.englishcustompolishing.com/index.html

And hot chrome page is http://www.englishcustompolishing.co...hotchrome.html

You could call them or poke around on the site and see if anybody carries it or not.
