Extreme Conditions and the 8
 

I work at a copper smelter and honestly, for all you Sierra nuts out there, it's not nearly horrid as you want everyone to think... ok... I'm off my soapbox now :). But there's enough that I've been warned to keep an eye on my BB 8. Haven't seen any signs of damage yet in the 3 months I've had her.

Here's my questions:
- Anyone have any suggestions for a car cover resistant to minute concentrations of SO2, dust, and Cu concentrate?
- Should I somehow clean out the engine compartment (it's fairly dusty)?
- And finally, will Zaino hold up under very dusty conditions? If so, which products will provide maximum protection?

neko- from experience, putting a car cover on everyday is a pain even if it did work. I'd say invest in a beater if you want to really protect your investment, not only the paint, but the interior. I imagine your clothes get pretty dirty at a place like that.

Actually, not too badly... though I've been getting to play in the mud a lot lately (my work Tacoma loves it). I bring pre/post-work clothes so my interior is protected. And thanks for the advice. Can't do the beater, though I like that idea. Ah well... nothing in this life is easy, esp. if it's worth having.

I'd just get a cheap cover from walmart and replace it as soon as it looks like its getting very contaminated.

As for zaino, i used to work at kelloggs company when i was an undergrad in college and I got out of work everyday to a layer of sugar on my car. Zaino worked great. It let the stuff wash right off.

car cover isn't going to stop sulfur dioxide, it will keep off the copper salts though. at the cereal factory after a while i just used the cover everday and it was fine.

I love car covers. I park in a VERY dusty city garage and mine keeps my car dust free. The first few times you fold a car cover it takes a few minutes—but once you learn how, you can remove it and fold it very quickly—in less than a minute. They go on even faster!

From my experience, Zaino attracts really fine particles of dust(it happened to me)... but then when you wash it, it lifts right off. I think a cover would help, just to prevent the dust buildup.
