wow i never realized the effect of running a midpipe on your tips. i realized that they got dirty quickly, but that stuff does NOT want to come off haha

Mothers FTW.......used them yesterday and my exhaust tips are like new...very shiny

altspace 04-13-2010 06:24 AM

Polished up the mufflers tonight. After 2 and a half years it's still looking real good.

Here it is when I installed it.

Looking good.

I'm leaning towards the RB exhaust myself.

tza0001 04-14-2010 10:36 AM

Nice and shiny!

Bullitt 04-14-2010 12:13 PM

Okay, so Mother's wins. I got some. :beer05::beer05:

rx8inthe540 04-14-2010 12:33 PM

Bullitt 04-14-2010 12:35 PM

Got mine at Auto Zone.

slvrstreak 04-15-2010 07:39 AM

brillo pads ftw! haha

Vyndictive 04-15-2010 08:40 AM

I went from the Racing Beat to the AP system... for the sound I was looking for, the AP is awesome. . . but seeing these pics of the polished tips makes me miss the RB. The single walled tips of the AP just scream rice. . . but i'll still rock it.

Ugh. The worst thing you could use, and if your exhaust got to that point you should be shot. Lol!

altspace 05-17-2010 04:04 PM

Hell yea! Do it.

first: are the stock exhaust tips supposed to be shiny? they look that way in the pictures but mine are completely black. i tried some never dull and they turned lighter but not shiny.

second: after doing some searching ppl are saying that the rims are painted surfaces. i just bought some black magic cleaner can i use that?

and one last thing doesn't belong in this section but everytime i have my car in neutral and step off the clutch, there is a rattling noise. does anyone else have this problem?

thanks for all the help!

I will try to help you in your problem. I am expert of making your exhaust shine. Can I know your contact information so that I can provide you with the one you need.

guys, wax the exhaust tips after you cleaned them, much easier to keep them clean.

L337fpc 06-29-2010 10:38 AM

what about TI tips?

mouthyman 08-09-2010 04:15 AM

When I bought mine, I thought the exhaust was painted black, I cleaned it and it didn't change colour, then I noticed the underneath was chrome so using some 000 grade wire wool and some autosol I polished the tips and they are now as good as new and very shiny

Here's my 2004 oem exhaust with about 60K miles on it. Took me 10mins to clean them. They only got that dirty because a friend was using my exhaust for awhile.

Josh I'm pretty sure your RB is more polished now than when you first got it, lol. Great work.

altspace 08-20-2010 07:13 AM

The canisters are for sure. Hehe.

AJ312 04-21-2015 08:49 PM

Id have to agree, mothers all the way. hadnt cleaned my tips in about 4 years and there was quite a bit of carbon build up. i run the rb catless mid pipe as well.
