Exhaust tip polish?
What polish is recommended to get some clean & shine for a stainless exhaust, tips only?
On other cars I used to use Gumption, but I fear it might 'cut' too much. any ideas? |

Try this:
http://www.petroferm.com/michelin/bdr.htm I use it on my wheels and Tanabe Exhaust. Seems to repel the dust and grime.... |
I haven't personally tried this one but I have heard good things about it...
They should carry it at your local Discount Auto, Walmart, etc. Meguiars NXT All Metal Polish http://www.meguiars.com/estore/images/product_g130.gif |
I use BlueMagic and is just fine. It works on aluminium too, soI doubt it is too abbrasive. In any case it will take a long time to get the solid SS of the tip grinded. I guess anything made to clean/polish magnum wheel should be just fine on the tips. I use a small piece of jeans fabric each time to clean and a paper towel to remove the slight haze left behind. Looks really good, no problems.

never dull is always trustworthy. Hm i want to try that nxt one now.

metal polishers work well. jus get them at any store. doesnt really matter wut. i use the liquid kind tho
|
be sure to wear latex or neoprene gloves regardless of what you use, I've used the liquid/paste polishes but always come back to Never Dull impregnated wadding by Eagle

Another vote for Nevr Dull (and yeah, I think that's how they spell it.)

never dull is amazing i used a piece the size of liek my thumb nail.. cleaned one whole exhaust tip and finisher..

I'm confused. I get the outsides clean and shiny with a wash mitt after I've done the wheels. Not sure what needs a polishing compound unless you all are talking about polishing the insides
|
Sure--One small wad of Nevr Dull for the outside of one pipe, then a few swipes around then inside; Buff with a MF or diaper. Repeat for the other. About 2 minutes total. Done at the same time as B to B for the bumper, the rear end shines beautifully.
|
I might not have made that crystal clear--
[/QUOTE] Yes, we are seriously (with a straight face) discussing our favorite techniques for polishing the outside and inside of the exhaust tips. After all, the inside shows, too; and you can't go around with grimy exhaust tips! (The inside has a semi-polished finish, not just bare pipe). That may seem a bit "over the top", but that's hardly unusual on this (or similar) sites Once you've invested a few minutes cleaning these up the first time (as you have done with the outsides), it's remarkably easy to maintain a nice appearance and finish. |
^ now I get it; just never thought about cleaning the insides.
Don't worry, you don't have to explain "over the top" to someone who just painted their fender vents yellow :p |
just used neverdull for my exhaust tips today, they shine like crazy!!! Forgot how good this stuff works. Funny how it's packaged.
|
I bought it 2 days ago and was AMAZED by the results. The exhaust look brilliant. MAKE SURE you buff them after wiping them down with never dull, its what really brings the high polish out of them.

I use Autosol Metal Polish on mine. Very nice. Reasonably Inexpensive as well.
Cheers, Hymee. |

Eagle One Nevr-Dull absolutely rocks. I second someone's motion about wearing some type of glove over your hand. Be sure to buff those tips with a nice soft cloth to really bring out the shine
