Dealing with Rain
 

I zaino my car religiously, and keep it covered when I can. Inevitably, though, it gets rained on every once in awhile. What's the best way to deal with the rained on car with many coats of zaino on it? Dry it? Let it dry? The disadvantage I see to drying it is wiping off the Zaino I spent so much time applying. The disadvantage of letting it dry on its own, is spots obviously. What's all your opinions and methods?

Just redo everything. The spots are going to be there if you don't. That's part of the reason I keep my car garaged, and if it does rain, I take the Benz to work. Sounds pretty wacky that I would rather take out a 50k Benz than a 30k Mazda, but I just have to keep it clean a few more months.

I wouldn't dry a car that had not been cleaned. I would be afraid I would pick up something in the cloth and scratch it. However, I will use a "detail spray" to "dry wash" a car. Then I use a micro fiber towel to dry. This is usually quicker than washing (which would be my first suggestion) and can remove the spots.

Use a Leaf Blower. It works great with Zaino.

I woke up this moring and my 8 had HARD water stains from sprinklers. now that sucks

Zaino'd the beginning of the week. Next day water had fallen from the sky, yeah I know it's usually called rain, but not this. This was barely a sprinkle, didn't last a full minute. What I ended up with was easily seen water spots added by the thin layer of dust on the car so they stood out even more!!!!!!!!

Now had it rained for real, it probably would have washed the dust/dirt off and may not have been that noticeable, but the fact that I could count hte number of drops that hit my car, really annoyed me. Rather it just rain for real than pissing me off like that.

As it turns out I washed that off, then the next day i zaino'd it again!

Wait a minute. You can wipe off the Zaino if your car gets wet and you wipe it off? I was under the impression that it stayed coated on the paint, in a similar fashion to wax. Is this not correct? Am I washing off my many Zaino coats when I wash my car?

I just received my Z2 & Z5, but have not put them on the cars. The label says that it is the "longest-lasting finish protection in the industry." Also, it contains "Ultra-Gard UV sunscreen shield. There is no mention of rain resistance or protection. I believe that the on-line info suggested that the application lasts around three months. I assumed that meant for a daily driver. If that only applies to garaged and trailered show-cars, I have wasted thirty bucks.

Zaino will not just wipe off.....if that were the case it would come off when you buff it????

Zaino will last just fine. As opposed to most waxes, you can stack applications and not have to worry about any kind of build up or yellowing that occurs with wax.

Fill half the bottle with Z5, approx 1oz, then add ~4 drops of Z2, close lid, shake well.

Using 100% cotton towel or applicator, apply in a back and forth motion. On horizontal surfaces, apply along the length of the car, front to back, when doing sides of the car or vertical surfaces, up and down.....at least that is what I have read and do myself.

I've never heard of the method of mixing Z5 and Z2. According to the Zaino directions you mix Z2/Z5 with ZFX in the way you describe (4-5 drops ZFX to 1 oz. Z2/Z5). Did you meanto say ZFX instead of Z2, or do you really mix Z2 and Z5?

As for the Zaino lasting long, wiping off etc. - I realize it is supposed to last long and not wipe off, and apparently this is the case for others, but in my experience that smooth slippery surface is gone after one rain or about a week without rain. That's with 3 coats, maybe it lasts longer with more.

I was under the impression that maybe the shine faded a little with a rain/wash, but the protection stayed for 3 or 4 months. Is that not right? The water still jumps off my car like it never did before I Zainoed even after many washes.

If you use the Z7 wash Zaino will not come off. The only way to get it completely off is to use a liquid dish soap like Dawn. Check out there website for hints/FAQs etc.

The website says Dawn stips wax off, not Zaino.

Use a car wash, not dish detergent after you applied Zaino. Otherwise, you'll be washing it off. There is a reason car wash is sold. Dish detergent is way too strong and will do more harm than good.

Get some Meguire Detailing Spray for wiping off dirt and spots. It's one of the best ways to keep your car clean between washes.
