Cleaning Headliner

Anyone have any tips for cleaning their headliner?

It looks like the car wash guy put his grubby hands on my headliner - right up on the Driver's side, where the headliner starts to meet the window.

The marks are noticable and fairly dark colored. I saw some on the other side too but sort of rubbed it and they went away. The marks on the driver side are a little more persistent and I didn't want to dry rub too much and grind it in.

Any tips on what I could use to clean it?

Also I am using Zaino for the first time this weekend....this is a dumb question but the instructions in the boxed kit I bought are a little confusing. He almost seems to suggest using the claybar FIRST before washing but I can't see how that makes sense. Others imply that you should wash first with Dawn and then Claybar....is that correct?

Just use a wet rage and some sort of degresser and wipe it off. It shouldn't be a problem.

I had exactly the same thing happen to my headliner- by the car wash dude and at the exact same place on the drivers side. I haven't cleaned it yet.

I'll let you know how it goes, I'll start with just a soft cloth and some water and hopefully all will be well.

Quick Zaino process:

Wash car with Dawn. Dry well. Claybar. Wash again with Z7. Dry well. Mix 1 ounce Z2 with 4 drops of ZFX. Apply to car. Wipe off. Get a nice mister and mist Z6 over the car. Wipe off as you go (dont let it dry). Shazam! Thats 1 Zaino layer on a perfectly clean car. Now repeat the Z2/Z6 process every 3 weeks if your anal about it (or if you wanna go for broke, you can do up to 3 layers a day. Note that the first time process ussually ends up taking 4-6 hours depending on how quick you get used to the Zaino. Remember, 1 ounce is more than enough for the whole car. It goes on REAL thin.

I had a similar problem and just used carpet cleaner and it came out after some hard scrubbing. Can't remember the brand, though.

Same problem...same place...maybe the same mechanic?

Thanks for the info...but if my headliner melts into some unrecognizable glob I won't be happy. heh heh

Maybe a should just take a carpet knife to the area...HmMMmmm
