Car covers: Covercraft's Noah or Weathershield?

Hi All,

I am in the market for an outdoor car cover, and after doing some searching I have decided to go with Covercraft's products.
I am now deciding between the Noah and the Weathershield. I understand that several people here have one or the other (or maybe both), and just wanted some opinions. Does it scratch the finish? Are they easy to put on? Easy to store (plan to store in trunk)? I am mainly looking for a comparison between the two, if at all possible. I was initially going to get the Noah brand, as it is slightly cheaper, but I'm concerned that since it's bigger and heavier, it would scratch the paint.

Thanks for your time!

I didn't see a cover listing for the RX-8 on the Covercraft Website; do you have part numbers?

I'm currently using the stock Mazda cover, but only in the garage. The car is never left in the weather. I'm interested in Covercraft as well, if I ever take the car on a weekend holiday.

Hi,

I ended up buying the Covercraft Noah series for my Rx8. I bought it from autoseattle.com. The customer service rep was very nice and I heard good things about them before as well. It was also the cheapest price for me.
I have not put on the cover just yet on the car because I want to wash it first before putting on the cover. I will post a follow up on how well it fits, but since it's a custom cover, there shouldn't be any problem unless they sent me the wrong one.

Update: By the way, I went to the covercraft website, and they have a little link on the left frame that allows you to find the part number for whatever car you have. However, I recommend looking around too. There are many online websites that have free shiping and no sales tax depending on where you live. I also think paying the extra $$ for the custom cover is worth it.

Just put the cover on. I was fortunate to have been seen fumbling with the cover by a fellow neighbor, who helped me put it on, which makes me worry how I'm going to do it myself...Either way, I'm quite happy with how it fit. It fits quite perfectly (as I anticipated) since it was a custom cover for the Rx8.
The annoying thing was using the lock, since I had to somehow "swing" the cable underneath the car to the other side. That took a good ten minutes. I'm not sure how often I'll lock that down. I'm thinking to write huge letters on my car to prevent theft.

I might post a follow up later on, especially if it rains and stuff. However, I do live in CA, so that might be quite a wait. :mdrmed:

once you figure out how to fold it. the install is easy.. i can take it off or put it on in less than 2 min... unless it is windy... as to the lock i dont use one...

but i would say leave the lock on the cable and give it a fling..

Per requested, I took some pictures of my covered RX8.

I would say the fit is pretty good. Again, I purchased the custom cover for Rx8 from Covercraft, Noah series. I also have the factory rear wing spoiler. I didn't pull the back all the way down, because the exhaust pipes were still hot. I will probably wait an hour or two from now on before putting on the cover, just to let things cool off.
I also managed to put on the cover all by myself today, and it wasn't so bad. Since I don't have a covered spot, I need to do this every day....

hot exhaust will not hurt it..

and give it time. i will fit better...
