Brown Specks

HI all. I have a problem.
For the past few years now I have noticed that after I wash and wax my car, and it sits out for an hour or two, the car begins to accumulate very tiny borwn specks all over, including the glass. These specks little circles or even lines and only come off if you scrape them with a fingernail or another object. This happens no matter what kind of wax I use, to that isnt the culprit. I was told by some that it is pollution in the air, I have been told by others that it is somethi8ng from trees.

SO I bought a carport. And even after leaving my car under the carport, the next day my freshly washed and waxed car has all these brown specks on it. What are they? And how do I keep from getting them short of keeping the car covered/garaged.

If I need to, I'll post a few pictures. Is this problem only common in gulfcoast texas or is it more widespread?

Clay bar your car, they will go away, and not come back for a while. It's oxidization building up around dirt particles on the surface of the car - the claybar will remove it without scratching the surface. Don't use a compound or scrub, as this will leave swirl marks galore. Trust me on that  just get a good clay bar and follow the instructions, make sure you keep kneeding the bar to work a fresh surface on it, don't drop it, and retire it when it gets too dirty, and you'll be fine.

Do you park near wood-based mulch? It could be that the little brown spots are a fungus that is grown in the mulch and, believe it or not, can launch itself up to 20 feet. I got this on my RX, and staying away from the mulch cured the problem.

Mmm. Ballistic attack fungus. I might just spead mulch around the car to scare off thieves.

very cool fungus if you think about it from a wonder of nature standpoint - very uncool once it launches itself 20 feet up the side of your vinyl siding.

as for car thieves, I have often wondered about an armageddon device on the car that I could set off remotely if the car is stolen. The beauty part being that it releases a time release poison through the steering wheel that does very baaaaad things to the driver. oh, is this public - better stop

Raz0Rama,
I am pretty sure that clay baring my car wouldnt work. Mainly because These brown specks also form on the glass and rubber. I will have to take pictures so you can see what I mean. Just FYI, I have clay bar'ed the car, and within a day I can get these specks again. But thanks for the info. Its appreciated.

DAC17,
I DO have a little bit of mulch in my front yard, BUT, I used to get these specks even when I lived at an apartment complex with NO mulch present.

I'll take pictures today and see if I can post them.

Thanks.
