Bondo Restore Black

Just used this on the black parts of front and back. Best results I've ever had......

You can see where I still need to get in the tight spots, but overall I like the results

Is it a paint? or a wax? polish?

Looks good. Did you apply it to the entire plastic bumper or just the exhaust shrouds? Was there any prep work before hand, besides doing an APC wipe down? How easy was it to apply? I recently used Forever Black and it didn't work to well since it was hard to get it to spread evenly. The bumper did look better from far away. Also, how is it holding up because over time the forever black wore away. I think I might not have applied it correctly though.

To get the bumper as clean as possible I used Greased Lighting and a "Bug" sponge to scrub clean. Then washed/waxed car and then applied Bondo Black. It was easy to put on.............kit came with an applicator sponge and an ?? ounce bottle that put out a paste like a thicker liquid wax. Spread easily and I even did the mirrors. Sponge washed out with warm soapy water. I will use a soft bristle tooth brush to get the hard to reach spots as the sponge is about 2x4x6

A few days later and it still looks like I just put it on.

Bondo considers it a "Gel Coating". Product says it is good for six months, we will see. Nothing else out there is very good anyway......so even if it works for a month it was worth the 10 bucks. I expect to get about 5-6 applications out of it. Could only find it at K-Mart. Not in any Auto Parts stores (Mothers B to B is all they carry) or Wal Mart. Didn't try the local body shop supply store as it was on the other side of town.

Nice Shinka, what exhaust do you have?

Check this thread for some before, after and much later pics. I might pick some up to detail the mirrors and rear bumper.

The one owner before me put on a Mazda Speed exhaust. Sounds like a high end Italian car, from 6k +. Happy with the tone and noise level.
More pics at thread "Calling all Copper Reds"

And thanks, after hours with clay bar, scratch remover and wax, results made all the hard work worth while.

just gonna share a bit, for cleaning plastics, i spray wd-40 on a rag, and wipe.

as for exhaust tone, thanks for that, i need to look into what exhaust i want.

Ya WD 40 is good stuff. Also good for cleaning the finger tips after some greasy work on anything!

Thanks for the tips. I will try this stuff out in the next week or so. About how much time did it take to do the rear bumper?

I have tried the bondo restore black but after a few months the plastic looked worse. Tried recoating and its just streaking now.
