i have never liked toyos.... i've got nitto invo's and they are really grippy... however i would have rather gotten 615's but i couldnt get them fast enough.... however the nittos, like the azenis have shitty tread wear

Ur actually trying to compare Nitto Invo's with RT-615's and Toyo R1R's? Maybe the Nitto's are ok for street driving, but they are nowhere near comparable. The new Nitto NT-05 is meant to compete with the 615's and the R1R's. Also you do know that Toyo owns Nitto, right?
spigot52 - I totally agree with you, my 615's have worn like iron. I bought my current set used at 50% tread, they had already had 6 track days on them and I've put 7k miles of street/mountain driving and 1 track day on them and I still have plenty of tread left. I've always been really interested in the Toyo R1R's and wanted to try them for my next tire, but I got a good deal on Bridgestone RE01-R's, so maybe next time. I have no complaints with the 615's, I just like trying different tires.

The Bridgestones are on my short list, and I have also heard a few good comments on the Dunlop Z1's.....but everyone seems to be silent on thr R1R's.

From what I've found, the R1R is older tech based on the RA1 and has been specifically aimed at wet weather competition. If you are lookiong for a change from the 615's like I was, go with the Star Specs or RE01-R. In 265 width the RE01's were actually less than the 615's.

I think you're confusing the R888 (Toyo's latest R compound available in the US, based on the RA1) with the R1R. The R1R is a street tire aimed at the RT615, RE01R, Star Spec, etc.
