Well, I submitted an email to Doug at SCCA..and no response, so now a letter to the Solo Board to get some clarification on the Power Plant Frame/Torque Arm rules for STX and SP. They allow replacement Torque Arms for solid rear axle cars...but it doesn't specify for non-solid rear axle cars..AKA Like ours. And if you read the rules, there is no specification that you can or cannot use it even all the way up to prepared class, so I definitely want some clarification if I can or cannot, so I can see if I can use the BHR lightweight Power Plant Frame. Will keep everyone informed.

Doubt that will happen i.e. the CSP Miata has the same and it has likely been addressed in the past even if it's not in the rulebook. The torque arm on a solid axle vehicle is a suspension device similar to a control arm. The PPF is more like a chassis device in that it holds the transmission and differential in alignment with each other. This is why the rulebook does not address it on a non-solid axle vehicle - the differential assembly is solid mounted to the chassis. This especially won't happen in STX. Certain elements want to takeback d@mn near everything ST is founded on and make it Street Tire Stock as it is ....

Awesome Pro Solo course in Oscoda this weekend with great weather too. I skipped running today to fly down to Florida and surprise my Dad with a Fathers Day visit. Didn't have much of a chance in the Bump 2 class, but would have liked another shot at the courses after flubbing both of my right side runs yesterday afternoon. The car is working so much better than at Lincoln several weeks ago. The Toyos just seem to grip so much better after they get some initial use and then sit for a week or two. Maybe they are too soft and overheat too easily when new?

Looks like a tough bump class. Was STX only one entry short? I probably would have made the trip if there was a seat available.

no, there was only one other STX car/driver, a local guy with a WRX wagon

I only went because the car is in the area and it allowed me to close out the Eastern Zone championship points going into the Finale

I would have had to beat Sam Strano's winning ESP times straight up to beat Mike Johnson's ASP times on the PAX in Bump2, was never going to happen with any ST class car/driver regardless. The car was good enough for one of the lower trophy spots at best

Glad you had a good time at my home region's Pro! I was in that backmarker STU (and temporarily BSP) black Evo in Bump2 and I just barely matched your raw times. I was struggling with the 2nd slalom all of day 1, and when I finally nailed it on day 2, I had slowed down everywhere else. I was meaning to say hi, but every time I saw you, you vanished into thin air the moment I turned around. It was cool to finally see your car though after reading so much about it here. Seeing your engine bay makes me want to do the same to mine!

Looks like the SEB has given up on most of its STX take-backs:

STX becomes a bit more appealing without the Spec Civics being eligible And the 06-07 WRX could be a good contender as well.

Agreed. The 2.5L '06-'08 WRXs will still be handicapped by the tiny turbo, but they would definitely be a better choice than the 2.0L cars.

Looks like I'll need to write a letter to get them to include the SRT-4. With the Mazdaspeed 3 being classed in STX (2.3L turbo), the SRT-4 should be classed there as well.

Having a transmission that isn't prone to break every season is going to help them as well

it won't be as prone to breaking with the 8" wheel/245 street tire size limitation for AWD STX vehicles

So I've heard. Yeah, those cars could definitely be a game changer in the class. Let the '06-'08 WRXs in...keep the '09+ cars out.

We had a mini-ProSolo sort of event with the NYR SCCA this last weekend. Here is a quick vid I put together of a few of my runs!

My reaction time could use some work but I'm happy with winning my class.
