Rx8 6mt Transmission/ Diff temperature at 100F track day
 

Lately been use temperature sticker a lot~

Look like u really need good quality diff oil over 130c even with late model diff cover with 4.777
With just 3-4 lap time attack on Rx7 Torsen LSD

With large oil cooler on driver side only , my oil temperature is pretty much under control

And the transmission oil seen to be normal range

you likely aren’t getting a true reading with them on the outside like that as compared to the actual internal temperature

the diff situation is well known and discussed on here, which is why I stick with the OSG 80W250 spec oil even though they now gave blessing to some lower aftermarket oils on their LSD.

But is such easy way , lately been lazy runing full datalogger on street car

Good choice on lsd oil, since u run os lsd too , with 100% lock that can create alot of heat too

with my osg diff and 5.1 FD, i'm still at 210F degree with the diff cooler on. sometimes i forget to turn it on till mid race and have seen 280F. well that's the max on my gauge, so it could be higher.

Careful doing that... the pumps can melt depending on what pump you use.

I melted my diff pump when I forgot to turn it on and remembered mid session and turned it on. The temp that was logged at that point was 320 degrees.... It is better to go in and wait till it cools off.... unless your pump can handle 300+ degree oil temps

i got the Tilton pump. i'll keep that in mind. what happened when your pump melted.

The head of the pump melted. The.motor part was OK... so I just ordered a new head to replace the melted on. I had a spare anyway so now I have the spare installed and the repaired melted one as a spare.

Depending on model of pump the bypass valve part is usually removed and plugged with a plug... removes a potential failure point

They definitely need to stay below 250 degrees ...

Good thing was it didn't result in a leak....
