Removing DSP sensors

What affect will removing the steering position sensor andthe bosch sensor between the rear seats have on the rx8?

I have removed these during the build og my rx8 race car. Thesensor on the tunnel was accidentally cut but I know others in my class haveremoved them. The steering position sensor was removed when the weld on quickrelease was added.

I planned to turn off the dsp while racing.

My guess is you would lose power steering, maybe lose traction control as well.

No effect from removing the stability control unit from between the rear seats other than your stability/traction control will no longer work. I have my completely unplugged.

Removing or disconnecting your steering position sensor will not affect your power steering. However, it will cause problems with the ABS.

If you plan to use your stock brake system and ABS (which I highly recommend) you have two options:

1) Reinstall the steering system sensor

2) If that is not possible the ABS will still work (most of the time) as long as you don't turn the wheel or touch the brake pedal at all from engine start until your first 20 feet of driving or so. Kind of a pain in the ass... don't ask me how I know... long story.

How strange.

I had the impression cars not fitted with traction control also did not have a steering sensor based on trying to log obd data from a 'sport' that has ABS, but no TC.

S1 steering rack with integral sensor is the same for all models with or without DSC. seem to recall the sensor being used for other things besides DSC, but my memory is not so good these days.

S2 might be different, as it has some DSC vs non-DSC differences from the S1. Example would be the front wheel hubs. All the same for S1, but S2 has DSC and non-DSC hubs.
