Racers who premix only--oil question.

Racers who do not use OMP and premix only:

What is your sump oil consumption like during a race event?

Does it decrease, increase, or stay the same?

I am thinking about some ideas about the oil seals at high rpm/high load engine usage.

Also, what kind of events do you compete in?

Thanks.

I do not "premix only" but I do use a sohn adapter with a separate reservoir. I do not notice any significant oil usage other than from the separate reservoir.

Mostly autocross, but some track day, hpde events as well.

Sohn adaptor

I’m curious, people who premix, such as myself, and also have the OEM omp hooked up are technically getting lubricant from both the motor oil and premix in the gas. when using a sohn adaptor would it not then make sense to get your lubricant from both the Sohn adaptor and also use premix in your gas? Most people that I have read using a sohn adaptor no longer premix, why is that?

No omp here just premix. But I'm not a track guy. I do drive the car hard though. 1- 1.5 oz per gallon.

I premix 2oz per gallon, but I also suspect my OMP doesn't work. I've had ZERO oil consumption after 2 years of racing, and only now that I actually have an oil control seal failure is it consuming a bit (by smoking).

I have a series 2 and do hpde days
. I notice a huge jump in how much it consumes compared to normal drive about 1 quart a day at the track.
I also premix 8oz amsoil every tank.

I think the Formula Mazda guys will have this info for you tbh. They run no OMP and premix only. IDK where to find them though.

I should add one guy shows up in a series one to the track on the regular and his pump is off the car and he adds 8ox saber 100:1 and he never seems to have issues so it must work at some level. Just a reference for you.

Yeah that is about the same level as me btw. Series 2 and after every 20 minute run in an HPDE event I have to top off.. way more when compared to regular driving.

100 to 1 is more like Turbo applications
I premix 200 to 1 in RX8 only at track day

I don’t mix at 100:1. The bottles have been labeled 100:1 for a while and at one point relabeled sabers so I use 8oz of that to a tank.

without the OMP you better be at 1 oz per gallon minimum in an NA Renesis track engine.

.

I would say you should mix to what the oil manufacturers tell you. 100:1 or 50:1.
That’s what that oil is designed to run at. I know some guys run way less and it may work but for how long. We know that you can run at 100:1 with no issues so I would say at least that with an oil rated for that. I know I’ve seen at least one guy that had no oil pump run his at the track with a single 8oz bottle of saber per tank it ran all day but I’d sleep better at night with at bare min of teams recommended amount
