Project JTRX8 from the Netherlands
Hello from the Netherlands.
First some info about me: My name is Mark and work for DHL Netherlands and my biggest hobby will be car’s. I am 32 years old I have a few Toyota’s and the latest was a Toyota Supra with 372 RWHP and 59NM torque http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/7932.jpg http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/7931.jpg Because the supra is to heavy for track and we more often go to the track with our team a decided to sell the supra. And start a new project This time a decided to go for a RX8. Because we have in our team a RX7 and we are specialist in Rotary. http://www.floriske.nl/plogger/plog-...2-img_6951.jpg http://www.floriske.nl/plogger/plog-...8-img_7046.jpg This RX-7 is imported to the Netherlands in 2005. First we did the exterior. Then the Engine ! 510 HP !! on E85 Bio-Ethanol The car only weights: 1090KG I youtube from the RX7 on the track Zandvoort Now more about my newest project. http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...90784139_n.jpg I go to build a RX8 for track use. I have bought a complete standard 2004 Mazda rx8 from the UK with complete leather interior. http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8181.jpg http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8183.jpg We have a lot off plans for the car: I want to go for the rx7 engine with the same setup as our rx7. There’s gone a built in a full roll cage and bucket seats and a pedal box and some more changes in the interior. The exterior gets a mazdaspeed kit and ultralite wheels with toyo R888 tires. But first we did strip the complete intrerior. http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8220.jpg [img]http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8240.jpg[img] http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8243.jpg And did begin at the firewall that I placed more to the back. The shock top will be mounted to the centre and the roll cage. First we made a paper mall and the we made it for metal. http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8254.jpg http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8255.jpg As far I am with the car. If the are questions about me, the car or our team let me know. Last Tuesday the engine and gearbox went out. Now we can look if we can built it to a LHD. I have already a pedal box. And now we can try to build the steering rack and the rest into a the rx8 I did get this week my new seats in the shop. I orderd the FIA OMP Champ seats. Now we can position averting on my lenght into the car. http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8258.jpg Also pictures for the empty engine bay and the under side. http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8256.jpg http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8257.jpg Regards, Mark |
i would have given you my lhd bb8 for your supra.
gl looks good |
Last saterday I started to take a old 13B RX7 engine a part.
So we can look for the parts we can and can not use for the JTRX8. http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8306.jpg After a hour http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8307.jpg And after another hour the engine was completely dismantled. Now we clean the engine parts and looking for all good parts. http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8308.jpg I have also built a engine from old parts we can’t use anymore. This we use with a rx7 FD gearbox for make the engine and gearbox mounts in the RX8 http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8309.jpg Mark |
After a long time another update.
Waiting for some parts and trying to find a LHD subframe. I couldn’t find a reasonable priced LHD subframe so decided to make the RHD to LHD. We placed the LHD steering rack on exact the same place as the original one. Also mounted a seat and the rest of the steering. http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8317.jpg http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8318.jpg After position the steering rack we made the original brackets fit to the subframe. http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8319.jpg To complete the conversion from RHD to LHD we only need to fit the Pedalbox. If it Fit I can leave it converted. If we cannot fit the pedal box between the steering and body of the car. I build everything back to RHD. I have a spare subframe in case off not succeeded the conversion. I also bought new complete bushings set from Powerflex. http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8314.jpg Mark |

I looks on the picture very small. Here I have the dimensions off the seat. http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/oncirr...nsions-omp.jpg A= 60cm, B= 58cm, C= 52cm, D= 88cm, E= 40cm |
I'm envious of your waist line.
Sparco EVO2 plus here... :) |
more car build pics and less typical aftermarket parts in boxes pics, lol

Because off the built off another car from our team I did not allot on my rx8. Now the Subaru is almost ready I did started at my project.
The car we built is a Subaru with 705 crank PK and 862Nm and use it for track http://sphotos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...56220083_n.jpg But now the my project. Made new engine brackets. http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8329.jpg We placed the seat maximum to the back so I still can reach the gearstick. Then we placed the pedal box in the car and need to made some chances to made it fit. Also made some temporary brackets for the steering. And fix it later to the rollcage. http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8330.jpg http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8332.jpg We have placed the seat further back and lowered. The space between seat and roof is approx 25 cm. http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8331.jpg Mark |
The complete rollcage built in the rx8

Looking good

Because we removed the firewall we needed to make the shock more stronger and did attach it to the rollcage.
http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8351.jpg Also we are busy with the outside. It's a mazdaspeed kit. And made the headlights from fiberglass. http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8352.jpg http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8353.jpg |
All this effort and you're going to use Powerflex urethane bushings? lol
It appears that you're not really building it for any particular race rules or series? |

It appears that you're not really building it for any particular race rules or series? Jeroentje.nl is a company where I can built the rx8 and the help me where the can and a good friend off mine. So I don't have a great buget and therefore I can't buy the best of the best. It's a hobby and want to drive many trackdays and Dutch Time Attack. And the have a few safety rules. Mark |
Mark, I make way to the Essen section of Germany once or twice a year and would love to see this in person.
Love your 7 BTW. |
you are going to have a LOT of fun with this car.
Nice build. What you you think the finished weight of the car will be? |
Nice, wish you the best, but I have to make a few comments on the cage.
You do not seem to have braced the main hoop. You should add a diagonal brace starting at top corner of driver side main hoop extending down to base at passenger side. It should be within the same plane of the main hoop. There are a lot of extra bars you don't need (they will not hurt, with the exception of the one next to the drivers head). I would lose that bar for the sake of not hitting it in the event of a side impact. The X brace in the back is fine, but the extra bracing to the shock mounts is unnecessary. That said, it may have been better to land the tubes closer to the shock mount. You will not notice a difference racing it with nothing attached to the shock mount, just like the shock tower bar in the front of the car - useless. You have no harness bar? I am not certain but I cannot see one. The bar that bends down to the tunnel would have been better served straight and if you wanted to tie in to the tunnel drop a tube down. Then you would have a harness bar and be one step closer to a properly supported main hoop. |
Not enough time to build on the car. Very busy with work.
So progress is very very slow. The cage is built by European rally regulations because I had advise from a rally technical staff memeber. And this is what he recommended me. This week I did take a week holyday so I can work at my project. I cleaned the new engine and made a large streetport. So we can rebuilt the engine. Also work at the custom made hood I made and some other body modifications. http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8415.jpg Also making some progress at the interior. http://www.jeroentje.nl/media/foto/8416.jpg Some off the products that will be used on the RX8 * Turbo Garrett GT3582R with Tial RVS exhaust side * Tial Wastegate en BlowOffValve * 2x 2200 cc Bosch Injectors en 2x 1100cc Because we gone run on E85 fuel * Full Function Trigger wheel * Full Function Brandstof rail And alot more |
