Potential

Well im jus wondering wut kinda potential the RX8 has... Like i wanna get an RX 8 for the looks..cause it defly looks hotter than the 350z and the G 35...but....i wanna be racing at the track...n engine wise..what can this car handle?? What kinda mods can this car handle???

\And what is the deal with the flooding.should i be worried???

nt5k May 21, 2004 06:22 PM

Don't ask what engine the car will handle ask what engine YOU can handle..

The car only becomes the bottleneck when you have your laptimes within 10ths of seconds of each other and you are no longer getting faster despite following the proper lines.

I jus wanna know wut kinda potential this car has...
Shiyat man..I

ranger4277 May 21, 2004 08:07 PM

Tons

RotorManiac May 21, 2004 08:20 PM

Why don't you give it a test drive and see for yourself?
Personally I think this car is at its best on the track, while it stays behind on straight-line acceleration. It can show all the weaknesses of the other cars due to its suberb handling. Just go for it!

THANK YOU....

Shiyat man..I can handle any engine..gimme a fucccckin Jet...or a weed wacker...

So, I'm guessing you are already signed up with a race team then? Or you've never done any sort of competition in your life..

I'm leaning towards the second one..

I'm guessing he lives his life a quarter mile at a time... and doesn't have a clue what corners are for.

What kinds of mods can this car handle?

The car itself can handle the following types of mods:

Suspension: for adjustments in ride quality and handling you can change the springs/coilovers, shocks/struts, bushings, mounts, tension bars, etc.

Wheels: most aftermarket wheel manufacturers offer custom rims in a variety of sizes and styles. The only limitation to doing this type of mod is choosing the correct bolt pattern, size, and depth.

Body/Aerodynamics: there are several companies offering custom body panels such as nose covers, bumpers, diffusers, wings, side skirts, and fins which can be added to the car or replace existing parts.

Braking: the car can have its braking components (pads, calipers, rotors, etc) replaced by those manufactured by Brembo, Wilwood, etc.

Transmission: gears can be custom made for better control of ground speed vs engine speed to suit your needs while racing. Differentials can also be replaced with custom aftermarket units.

Engine: the clutch and flywheel can be replaced with lighter racing-type units for increased responsiveness. A forced induction system, nitrous system, or both can be added for increased power. Intake and exhaust systems can also be replaced by aftermarket units for improved performance.

Electronics: custom piggyback engine control modules are available, as well as fully programmable standalone units. Dyno tuning with a wide band lambda sensor is necessary for optimal results.

BTW what is this flooding issue everyone talks about? I have 10,000 miles on mine and its had no problems.

Gin thank you very very much...>thats what i was lookin for... not people attacking me cause im interested in the car...
Thank you..u were very helpfull

nt5k May 22, 2004 07:59 PM

You were being attacked because you came off as someone that was such a good driver that the car itself would be a limiting factor. When you do get this or whatever car you get, take it to an autocross. It is an extremely humbling experience.

Have fun..

honestly i didnt mean to come off like that... But ok..n thank u...

Also, he was 'attacked' because he just said "at the track"... Racingwhore, just what kind of 'racing' and 'track' are you talking about.

It's obvious that mods for autocross and road course tracks are much different than what it takes to just go fast in a straight line, ie quarter mile drag racing.

If you want appropriate advice, you're going to have to be much more specific about what you want to do. Your post was too vague, and we don't read minds! ;)

Gordon

Just understand that the Rx8 was designed with handling being the most significant performance feature(as with all Rx vehicles). So don't go to the strip expecting wonders. Then take the car to an autocross and truely feel & understand why the Rx8 is what it is............."An engineering marval"
