OZ Alleggerita

Weights now posted at Tire rack ... 17.2 lbs for 18X8, 1.2 lbs lighter than the Ultraleggeras.
48mm offset
$375

Might be time to ditch the boat anchors!:)

chiketkd 01-15-2009 09:16 PM

If I was setting up a BS RX-8 for the first time, I'd be all over this. That's pretty darn light...

Not a bad looking wheel either.

I was also looking into getting these. In white possibly??? :) or those :lol2:

SilverSurfer 01-16-2009 09:48 PM

Those white wheels are straight up JDM, yo.

if you're looking for a track setup, I'm selling my Superleggra and Hoosier setup:

These one piece, cast thin spoke alloys are making the uber trick, 3 piece CCW/Bogart/Kodiak type stuff totally redundant...

The new OZ is a very nice looking and impressive wheel, for sure. Enkei also has this shnizzit down cold, the TR Motorsport wheels (made by Enkei) I got from Chris are very good the RPF1 is just a classic design, imho.

The only question I have is strength, but I've yet to see any failure of the Ultraleggera, RPF1 etc. so maybe its all good.

Mike,

A few years ago, a buddy of mine had an off at MotorSport Ranch in my old Miata, which had a set of RP-F1s mounted at the time. Here's a link to a description of the incident and pictures of the damage. I was impressed with how well they held up.

The offset is not published on Tirerack for the Alleggerita. Anybody have that info?

Zoom4Three 01-19-2009 09:09 AM

The offset is 48mm, we have the Titantium Tech finish now in stock. Alternate colors can be ordered through the OZ Colours Project on an as needed basis.

Additonal information can be found here: http://www.ozracing.com/at-team/colours-project/en

Approximately 60 day turnaround time and the cost is just $25 additional per wheel for the factory warrantied semi-custom finish.

So will you and Rogers be picking up a set Harv?

Zoom4Three 01-19-2009 10:25 AM

Undecided at this point...but dropping almost 5 lbs of unsprung, rotating mass is tempting.

If I was staying in B-stock another season, it would be a no-brainer.

I hear that... was planning to jump on these when they became available. But, we were able to find a set of the unobtanium SSR's at the end of the season.

Still might ditch one set of ultraleggeras for the sexay alleggeritas.

Interesting idea, but the website you linked to is an epileptic nightmare. :Eyecrazy:

Ivan,

How much do the unobtanium SSR's weigh again? Will Neal be running with you for a 2nd season?

Supposedly around 16.5, haven't actually weighed 'em yet.

And yes, the 4 of us will be back for another go.

Gotcha - so these new OZ's aren't too far off the weight of the unobtanium SSR's.

Awesome - glad you guys/gals will all be back. Hopefully, I can get a local competitor in the DC region to drive my car in BSL. We'll see...

The Matt Blue ones on their website would look sweet on my 40th... If i only had the cash to buy Autocross wheels/tires right now

Weight varies by color?

Do the weights on these wheels truly vary by color. Tirerack shows a variety from 17.0, 17.2 and 17.4.

Zoom4Three 05-20-2009 02:34 PM

It's not uncommon for a given wheel part number to vary in weight by +/- 2% or so. Paint coverage, slight machining differences and rounding to the tenth all contribute to the differences. We weigh one example of each new part number when it arrives, so the variance is not a surprise.

Get a set polished, no paint, and fractional removal of aluminum should make them lighter. :lol2:

Racer516 05-20-2009 02:47 PM

Chris, thanks for the quick response! You have to love a company that lets you sort the wheels by weight!

So can you pick me out a nice matched set at 17.0lbs./or less of the same color?:squint:

Kinda like the old days where the Ford, Chrysler and GM would not balance and blueprint a stock motor, they would just pick out parts that were darn close.

Just beacause you win a few national championships, you think that gives you the right to be a wisecracker? Ok fine it does! :eyetwitch

You forgot to mention the superlight J-spec ultra cool valve stems that I should get too!

TopGear8 05-20-2009 03:08 PM

I want these wheels but they don't come in a 17x9!!!!

Customer Service has it's limits :) I have been hording all the -2% wheels in a dark corner of the warehouse and sending all the +2% wheels to B-stock competitors :lol2:
