Oh I know... drool. That's not happening though.
Most people don’t realize it’s not the initial cost that gets you. It’s having to buy the dozen or so wear spacers and then maintaining it within the tight wear range; which means pulling the trans and clutch to measure it on a regular basis.

As usual; gotta pay to play.

I'm going with a Spec mini-twin...

As for the tune, not sure what I'm going to do about that. I have a cat-back right now, but for the header and mid-pipe I'm thinking that I might have something made up, based on what Team has posted.

Kinda depends if I get bored of the RX-8. Something-something car ADD.

I'm not sure how competitive it will be this season, but it will be fun chasing your times!

You may have seen the sale ad on that other site. Suspension-wise it's got Ohlins DFVs valved for 11/8k springs, Hotchkis bars with adjustable links front and rear, and Powerflex black poly bushings. The motor has a Racing Beat intake and header, Black Halo Racing catted midpipe, custom single-exit exhaust, and is tuned with a Cobb AccessPort.

I'm just planning to put 275s on the STX wheels and have some fun this season. It's down on compression (low 6s) so I won't be campaigning the car nationally. It may make appearances at the NJ Pro and Fingerlakes Tour, but it's going to be a local car this year.

More RX-8'S at FLR! We have 3 locally, plus one who comes out from the Buffalo area often.

Not sure if you guys can see this or not, but Hoosier Racing Tire and SCCA did a video feature on DSP (interviewed me at nats) and SCCA just shared it on their facebook page. I wish I would have cleaned my car up a bit more before the interview now LOL.... John's BMW and Mike's RX8 look pretty sharp in various scenes too.

Looking forward to having more of you join us next season! The class really is a ton of fun.

I was joking around a few days ago abouy putting HoHo's on my STX 8 and got told no. Apparently 400lb front springs and 2xxlb rear springs -might- not be enough.

"Technically DSP." lol

Springs are pretty easy to change, no?

Yeah, and revalving.

The car is fully setup for STX (Spark's old car) , so I was entertaining the idea for ***** and giggles. I need to learn to drive better first - I am an ape behind the wheel. Fixing some stuff on the car, doing an Evo School, and focusing on getting better this year. I'm going from a GS FoST to the 8 this year.

So my car has the appearance package, which was a standalone option in 2004 if I'm not mistaken. I don't like it and want to remove it. I have to remove all of it (front + sides + rears + spoiler) correct? I understand it leaves some holes visible, is that going to be illegal?

Nope. Legal.

I agree the cars look a lot better without all the nernies.

Oh, awesome! I know what I'm doing Friday night. I'll probably leave the wing on for now to avoid having to deal with a leaky trunk lid.

Edit: I see that I need to replace it with the normal front lip, which I don't have. The car is also missing some of the splash guard pieces, so I guess I'll need to order a bunch of stuff. Ugh.

I wish I had seen your high-speed starter for sale before I bought one. D'oh!

I don't think anybody is going to care if you're missing the front lip. And the splash guards don't have to be present at all in SP.

I suppose I should read through the SP rules again, it's been a while.

While it wouldn't bother me if a competitor didn't have a front lip, it's necessary to hold the undertray up. The "normal" package lips are not terribly expensive and much more common than a replacement Apperance package lip, anyway.

I'm hoping to make a bunch of progress this month. We are finally thawing, and my friend is willing to help fab exhaust at just Quick-Jack heights.

The first possible shake-down is 4/8, and a TnT at Grissom at the end of April. If I can, i'll have header->exhaust done, intial tune on an Adaptronic, first iteration of new spring, and Aero.

Lighter Driver is slowly coming along.

FINALLY getting the chance to revisit the RX8 a bit, got distracted racing motorcycles...

Got the thing painted (not to shabby if I say so myself), and I think I have given up on keeping the battery in the engine bay. Anyone have any suggestions for a good battery post setup for under the hood? I'd like to have the cables running to the trunk mounted in an appealing way in the front.

Also, I stumbled upon a cheap set of FCM coilovers I think I am going to pick up and get Shaikh to rebuild/revalve... A close friend has been absolutely swearing by the customer support and willingness to work towards custom setups at Feal though, and that would cost less than the revalve/rebuild on the FCMs.

Too many things to consider...
