Anything over 8600 or so will take it's toll on the engine, that said I rode 10k plenty in the past though intend to go with the lower number in the future

You're only going to rev to 8600? That will likely limit you to around 60mph with the S1 diff and transmission, right?... seems like you will be riding limiter a lot, or I hope you're good at shifting lol. The last few nationals courses we've been at have resulted in riding limiter for a decent amount of time at 65-67mph for us.

We will be there, and I will likely be running open with my fiance, Andrew.

Are you really wanting 18's? I think Nate is selling his RPF1's for less $ and they may also be lighter. If you're open to 17's there are some lighter and higher offset options that are just as wide AND cheaper.
Right now the AST tank is off and getting passed around the country, so the car is sitting for longer than I wanted. In a perfect world I would before anything dyno, then dyno with the new header/exhaust, then tune for final results, but I might have to skip steps 1 and 2. Really wish I had figured out the Tow-Trailer earlier, would make this part not as difficult running around Chicagoland.

Elite Rotary Shop will likely be the tuner. Though they are an FD specialist, their tuner has been messing with RX8 tuning for awhile, and they have some RX8 specific part ideas they hinted at (though it might be all turbo related).

For that deal, I'm just passing along what I saw. I have 18x10 Forgestars that'll suffice for now.

My car has a 3rd gear and I'm not afraid to use it.

In fact, I hope to be using it alot. I also have the S2 trans with 4.77 rear gear.

No matter how good you are at shifting it still takes time to shift, but I am envious of people who are good at up/down shifting smoothly/quickly.

What about the time you spent decelerating while over revving well past the power peak and then coasting on the limiter? It always depends on the situation too; how fast your car accelerates vs mine, the speed of your car at any given point compared to mine, where the upshift occurs vs where the downshift occurs, and so on. I also anticipate being able to flat foot shift at that time too, something I made the mistake of trying to do with an S1 trans once ... once ...

Interesting, I've experienced the over rev and decelerating (can be very disruptive) on other cars but never my rx8. Hitting limiter is smoother than nearly other car in my experience, and simply results in no longer accelerating but maintaining speed.

Im excited for you to get your car out. Will definitely be fun having more Rx8's in DSP!

Premix allowance for 2018 came out in the July Fastrack:

#22032 Please update SP fuel section 15.10 allowances for #17062
The **** would like feedback on the following language being added to section 15.10, Engine and Drivetrain. The wording is identical to the new rule recommended in ST in the September 2016 Fastrack.
“Cars with combustion chamber oil injection systems (such as those in rotary engines) may supplement the standard engine lubrication system with additional oil supplied through the standard fuel delivery system.”
Nothing yet on either radiator sizing changes or the Sohn oil injection adapter ....

Oscoda is probably part of why Toledo is very light in DSP. And Vice Versa, Toledo is why I can't swing Oscoda...

We had a good weekend in Oscoda. Hurst was posed to take the win in Open DSP until second drivers went, and Strano got him by .001 - it doesn't get closer than that! In L1 I also ended up 2nd to Monfort, by .080, and 3rd overall to Whitener who took the win (L3 bumped to L1). Sunday afternoon in the Ladies Challenge I ended up breaking out (meaning I ran a time that would have won Ladies bump) and ended up 2nd after the skies opened up during the final round.

It was fun, close racing all weekend, at a beautiful site. We struggled a little with car setup on concrete- the car gets significantly pushier than on asphalt - but the final setup that I drove Sunday morning was pretty solid. Two more free hoosiers and a pile of Mazda money to take home made it a great weekend. Plus, having 15-20 people over to our lake front cottage to hang out by the campfire, paddle boat racing, and an RT challenge (loser drinks a terrible beer) made it a weekend to remember.

Here's my Ladies Challenge video. Never did get the back sweeper right.

Now time to install the long tube header I bought (and fab a new midpipe and get re-tuned) and make at least 1 more horsepower (hopefully more) so Jeff doesn't lose by .001 next time! I couldn't pass it up - got such a steal on it, used.

Also, I'm excited to see that DSP at nationals consists of nearly 1/3 RX8's now that Razny took on our friend Tim as a codriver! Razny, I heard good things about your car from Strano this weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing it in action at nats.

And lastly, SportsCar magazine did a nice writeup on how we've been developing my RX8 (okay it's mostly about me but there's a lot about the car too). Nice to see an RX8 grace the cover and hopefully it will bring some more interest/excitement to developing more of them. You guys can read it here: Sports Car - September 2017

Here's one baller shot they got of my car. Not bad looking for a $2,000 beater RX8 I think (~$12k all in now).

Post header pics please

I won't be ready for Nats this year, my goal is to finish and dial in over the winter for 2018

Will post some of my own header pics in a month or so, or at least the preliminary prototype

Read your article in SportCar (she's on the cover guys).

Congratulations! Great coverage and great article. Leverage some sponsors out of that.

Looks maybe like a modified early version or copy of the Speedsource header, should be worth a few hp over the OE manifold

Thanks guys!

The header is marked "Pete's Speed". I saw a few mentions of it on this forum - sounds like it was a custom shop that made exhausts for Gram-Am and Koni Challenge cars (I think). It looked good, it was a steal, so I bought it We have a penciled in appointment for the 18th to get re-tuned, assuming we can fab up a new midpipe. We've gone to the same dyno everytime (EFI Logics in CT) so we will have a good comparison.

Yes, they built the originals I believe, but it was a short tube version only. If it were me I'd cut off their extension and replace it with straight pipes into a 12 or 15 degree merge collector with full 3" outlet. Whoever modified it made a mistake choking it down like that imho ...

It has an incredibly long merge collector, so I don't think it was ever modified/extended. We are running a 2.5" exhaust anyway and don't intend to do 3" at this time.

Interesting. Ours is basically that one, but if you chopped off the flange and added ~18" of merge collector (haven't measured to know exactly).

Well maybe it's not clear to you. The collector is slip-on/removable in the SpeedSource pic. It looks to me like someone took the original short collector off and welded the longer choke collector on at that same position. Just an observation, not a criticism.
