Dude, that has almost nothing to do with the topic of this thread.

Create a new thread in the New Owners section and ask there.

My car is an '08 and the second gear synchro is dead. I'm tempted to get an S1 and put in a synchro saver, if it works to prevent the transmission from blowing up.

I've done fast shifts with this trans before, but if one isn't careful, it's easy to damage the trans. All it takes is one hamfisted shift to damage it.

It helps, but eventually the trans will still blow.

So after thinking it through some more I canned the bake & bend idea; just too many ways for it to go wrong. Instead I just went back to UIM Plan A from where I left off two years ago. Still a work in progress, but the general idea is feasible. Most of the straight section will be cut-off when the TB flange is installed. The UIM flow length will still be the same, just without the extra 20* bend past the 90* straight position. The ID and radius of the tube also matches the UIM. Not trying to upset the original resonance design any more than possible.

The UIM undersection will not be re-used. The oil fill/vent assembly is replaced by a long aluminum tube with filter for venting to atmosphere; just pop the filter off to add oil. The vacuum tank with intake solenoids will be relocated with pigtail harness extensions. This opens up the top of the engine for more venting/airflow and with the bare-bones UIM this simplifies things a lot. The TB will be aligned directly at the oval fresh air opening in the front frame structure with a straight-shot MAF tube.

Working on the TB flange next and have an idea for a unique air filter setup too.

Hey guys, My RX8 is totaled. 4.777 diff, springs, bars, and shocks went with it. I have an assortment of things available should any of you need them.

stock 4.444 diff, removed at like 75k miles, put back on for a few months in 2015 when I ran in CS/STX
used lightweight flywheel, I think its an ACT ProLite
Cobb Accessport (dang, just realized its married to my car, I'll see if its still accessible...)

The big ticket item is my barely used Enkei RPF1 in 18x10+38. They've done 70 autocross runs and zero street miles. They're basically in perfect condition. I've posted them for sale on the internets for $1080 (20% off new, being optimistic) but would let them go for a lot less here knowing they'd still be turned in anger and not on a stance car.

It is looking increasingly unlikely that Marc's car will be back up and running in time for the Devens tour. Is anyone else looking to make the trek out this way with an empty seat for the weekend?

I had some very positive discussions with the ****. It's obviously only step one, but certainly a positive towards refined language on the radiator allowance. Now it's fingers crossed the SEB agree.

What's the deal with the radiators? Are you guys looking for lightness or better performance? We just run an OEM equivalent $60 radiator and it seems to be working just fine LOL.

BTW, I hear the **** is also considering letters about the Sohn Adapter and 2 stroke in the fuel right now. Hopefully we will hear back in the next Fastrak.

And on another note, we fit 295/35/17. Not sure they are actually faster or not - had to raise the car to fit them, heavy fender pull, they increased the track width 40mm, and we are having pinch weld issues that required us to put in steering limiters that don't let us go much past 270 on the steering wheel (plus adjusted caster settings for max clearance - currently at max caster). Plus, worse gearing from the tires being so much taller. Not sure how Kuhn fit them so easily - he said just a roll and he clears the pinch weld. Definitely not that easy for us!

Wish we could do a back to back test with the 275/17, 295/17, and 285/18 to know which is fastest.

Oh yeah, and we finally did a tune. Up to 208whp/143wtq on the same Mustang dyno. Hopefully it will help us out in Toledo this weekend!

I don't think I would call the radiator necessary, but the OEM one was killed so i went through with the upgrade. I had a few days last year in humid 90's where I thought i was noticing some power drop from not getting the car cool enough. (co-driven, with a ton of re-runs at a local).

The wheel offset will influence that some.

Radiator rule change would be next year at the soonest, no way around that. Might be the same for Sohn and premix unless they can clarify it under the new drivetrain reliabilty allowance.

Going with the OE S2 radiator myself, should be fitting the fan to it this weekend. Also have some parts coming this week, hope to make more progress soon.

K&N on the driver side once I cut the tube back as indicated. Same except twice as long custom-made by K&N on the other side. Still waiting on a price from them. The end of the filter housing is also a filter surface, not a cap. The one you see there is 4" OD x 6" long. So the other side will be 12" long. I intend to run K&N dust cover wraps on both.

I'm likely late trying to boost this, but Toledo Champ tour has 45 spots left. Just me and Eric Campbell at the moment. I think Eric has jumped class when DSP hasn't hit five, but I'll be trying to get a co-driver.

Any word from Marc? The entry count quietly reduced down to 297. Though I'm not sure if that's just Harms slow on the waitlist fill.

He's on the waitlist, I would expect him to come off when they get around to filling it. Still have not been able to confirm whether the car will be ready.

Fresh Hoosiers are really much better than old A6s. Still getting used to the grip levels, but the car seems to take it in stride. I definitely do not regret going purple crack!

Could one of you tell me what class my '04 would run? From what I have read my aftermarket wing bumps it out of DSP. It is a rock-stock 2004 with the only aero mod being a rear wing. Everything else is basically factory spec aero and mechanical....

Here's a quick reference checklist:
https://dk1xgl0d43mu1.cloudfront.net...pdf?1485463261

And here's the full rulebook so you can see the specific rules it cites:

Now that you know how to answer your question for yourself next time, I'll give you the bad news:
Wings aren't SP legal. Spoilers are as long as they don't act as wings.

Nats registration is open!

Pie in the sky hopes are to have the exhaust and header done, then tuned proper by Toledo (truly in advance by a weekend to use a local as the shake-down). This requires actual free-time, so I'm not sure how i'm doing that, but hopes are free.

Thanks a bunch. I like that quick ref alot.
Yeah, I figured from reading some of these threads that I was not possibly SP. My last car was GS so this is way more fun, lol...

obviously we have no rush, but hope to see you all at Nats! Class had 16 last year, but no Ladies class, with only Mike Marc and Nate Atkins getting their RX8s to Lincoln.

Though we lost Nate, all these builds this year could mean Rotaries outnumbering In-Lines in grid, or at least the e46s...

Not as good as the deal a week and a half ago (those were 18x10.5's, et48, for about the same price)

18x10, et40, at 21lbs., for $1,400

Awesome. Who are you going to have do the tuning? Do you have a "before" dyno result to compare to?

We will be there, and I will likely be running open with my fiance, Andrew.

Are you really wanting 18's? I think Nate is selling his RPF1's for less $ and they may also be lighter. If you're open to 17's there are some lighter and higher offset options that are just as wide AND cheaper.

Just curious on everyone's thoughts on riding the rev limiter vs bumping it higher (to theoretically ride it less time), and also what a safe rev limit is? I've heard a lot of people run 9300rpm, but how safe is it, and is it safe to go higher (and how much)? This is obviously an autocross specific question since the only reason to bump the limiter is to avoid shifting. It also assumes no more than ~3 seconds on the limiter at any given time (otherwise it's worth shifting).

It seems like courses have been generally getting faster, but everyone also seems to say the S2 diff is the way to go for better acceleration... but it drops the top speed of 2nd gear pretty significantly... which brings me back to the limiter question.
