Is this normal?

I'm pretty sure this has been asked before, but I couldn't find any old threads regarding this...

I went to my first ever autocross in my 8 this past Sunday. The car ran perfectly in all 4 runs without any fuss. However, almost as soon as I finished my 4th run my oil light came on. The pressure guage never moved - just the light.
I let it idle for a minute, turned it off, and checked the dipstick.
Oil levels were fine.
Turn the car back on, no more light.

This happened Sunday around noon.
The light hasn't come back on since then.

Did I just slosh the oil around too much and trigger a false alarm, or is this something I should be concerned about?

I seem to recall this being an issue on the 2004, there is an oil pan TSB for the early car. I have never seen it on our 05'.

If you're talking about the stock gauges - there is no oil pressure gauge. Don't even bother looking at it.

but yeah, if you have an earlier rx8, there is a fix available for the oil light issue.

I had the check oil level light come on once at Sebring after a lapping session. Checked the oil level and it was fine. Restarted the car and the light went away. I would suspect it was simply a sensor triggered with lots of oil sloshing around. My car is an '06.

never seen one ... yet

You hopped out of the car too quickly after your runs to see it the couple times you tripped it in my car.

It usually came on 10-30 seconds after coming to a stop back in grid.

I've never seen it on my or DKNVs car. I let you maintain your own oil level :stickpoke

well i had the tsb done and had a new oil pan installed with the good ole reflash done as well and all i can say is that if i get into it a little too much every now and then the oil light will come on and after checking it i might be a half quart low or so.i don't mind it's like a early warning i can deal with.but is way better than having the light come on and the level is not low at all.and by the way if i have checked it and the light comes on with the driving i do it go's out on it's own after a couple of miles.still not a bad thing.

I noticed at the last few (3) AutoX events, my oil light will sometimes come on (been at approx 12 events with the car).
Does anyone know if the TSB fixes a real issue with providing the engine with oil, or just a nuisance light? I've checked my oil each time, and it's always been within 1/8" of full.
Is there any way to look at the oil pan and know if the TSB has already been done? Also, the description of the TSB does not match what I'm seeing. It only mentions the light coming on when the engine is at 4500 to 4800rpm. Mine does not come on during street driving, just at some AuotX events.
If it's just a nuisance light issue, it doesn't bother me. I don't use that to prompt me to check the oil and it doesn't come on often enough to be a nuisance.
My guess is that if it was an actual issue providing the engine with oil, it would have been a recall and not a TSB.
My car is an 04.

mine is an 06 and this happens a lot... still not sure why, but adding a few drips of new oil (1/4 quart) usually makes it go away for a little while. I believe it started happening about the time i moved really close to work and all my miles on the 8 are stop and go, very little highway... dunno.

At Sebring this weekend, I had oil and coolant lights come on during the runs. Fluids were topped off.

This only happens at Sebring (with its long, sweeping bends and high G Turns 1 and 17) however, as I've never have this happen at Homestead.
