NJ Autocross class

Damnit, i dont want to ask this because i know the information is somewhere but i cant find anything official.. I basically just want to know what class ill be in for my first autocross in april.

I will probably still be on my shitty nexen tires and upgrade later to Yoko S.Drives

I have a catback exhaust

Might be getting front and rear progressive sways for my birthday in 3 weeks.

Thanks.

Well, for future reference, here are the rules: http://www.scca.com/solo/content.cfm?cid=44517. It will give you information of what is legal and illegal in each class modification wise as well as general rules.

But based on your current mods, you should be in C stock. I forget if sways are allowed in stock classes, but if the sways are illegal you'll be moved up to STX.

Thanks, i must have overlooked that.

if it's really your first autocross then dont worry about what class you're in. just go and get a feel for the car and how it performs. At this point, focus on improving your own times rather than comparing them to others. It'll be fun regardless!

well i was just curious because a few people have said to know what class your in before you go. Thanks for the tip:D:

Totally irrelevant to my original post but i see alot of action pics of rx8's at autox events and it looks like they are coming close to rubbing their front bumper corners with the ground, I have the appearance pckg lip and would hate for it to get chewed up. Will i have this issue since i have the 40AE bilstein shocks and not the regular S1 oem shocks?

TeamRX8 01-30-2012 11:43 PM

it will get chewed by all the cones you will hit, not because of which shocks you have

If you're running with motorsportsNE at Giants stadium, know that they follow NASA classing instead of SCCA classing.

Thats great! thanks! Expect to see a large rx8 gathering too. We have 7 people that go to my college that have rx8's and we all park together, im trying to get them all to come.

Also looking forward to meet some TNC guys if they come.

You are better off running in STX as a new driver rather than C stock because is has a better pax (better handicap). Usually you will start in a novice type class, either a novice class or the addition on a N to the normal classes.

and you know it's true due to the same

tape will save your paint, but sooner or later the internal mounting tabs break on the appearance package air dam

same for the standard black strip for those who don't have the air dam.

can i take the lip off for the day? or is there too much hassle involved with that? Excuse my ignorance as i have not searched yet how to add/remove the air dam.

I'll be at that event as well. We have a great format planned for the Novice school, definitely get your friends involved, they won't be sorry.

The air dam is held in place by screws, studs, and 2-sided foam tape. It's not really an option to take in on and off.

i was hoping no tape was involved, thanks for clarifying. Ill take it easy and hopefully not hit any cones, i dont want to ruin my lip.

Unfortunately, I'm usually the only one from TNC who autocrosses. Everyone else is lame :)

I guess im C stock then??

dmitrik4 02-05-2012 08:19 PM

in Stock you can change either the front or rear sway bar, but not both. your shocks and tires are legal.
