My best time in my daily driver is 1:44.1x. That is with no cage, std leather seats, all interior parts except back seats, 17" R comps, race exhaust, Tein Flex, RB #2 flash. No weight removal. Mike Skeen got a similar time in my car. So if you are running a proper track prepped RX8 and know the track and running in TTC, I'm guessing a 1:39 should be obtainable. DO IT! :D

I guess I'd take a Kimi Raikkonen approach and say: It doesn’t interest me yet what is going to happen. You’ll see it then.

He had a hard time with 5th and just stayed in 4th down to 10A. Also had to deal with a lot of slow traffic. Silly Spec E-30's! :D

Watch out for turn 5 and 7, they will bite you in the *** big time. Get all over the gator at the apex of T3. the right side of your car can get big air here so be careful and make sure you open the wheel here into T4. Take T6 faster than you expect. Stay flat out from T10A to T1. Watch one of the vids I posted for the approach from 10B to the bridge and the turn in at 12 to the front straight. If you want more, I made a training video for MVP tracktime that shows it in slow-mo with visuals pointed out, turn-in points, apexes and track out points. Don't want to bother you with something you may consider rudimentary but it has helped a lot of drivers trying to learn the track.
Just glad to help out fellow 8'ers. Especially at the championships. It will bore you to tears if you know the track but if not I'ts probably a good thing to look over. I had students that told me they watched it 5 times before coming to MVP. The stupid music will probably make you want to hurt your dog so you may want to turn the sound off. Guess you just can't fix stupid. After the slow-mo, there is a brief on apexes and a standard full speed run which you probably don't need to watch if you paid attention to Skeen or my other run. Sometimes slowing it down helps to get the marks.

It looks like T1 catches you (going uphill) and T7 throws you off (off camber). Is that right? There seems to be a lot of time to be gained or lost in T7 by choosing the right line.
I'm going to order a spare set of b*lls for T11-T12.

Turn 7 is one of my favorite turns. I stay in 4th around T6 and gear down to 3rd approaching T7, back full throttle then let up just enough to rotate the back end at apex, then back full throttle. If you do not nail 7 you can loose 2 sec. If you pinch it and oversteer, get ready to follow all those tire marks into the inside wall concrete. That usually happens with more horsepower cars than ours but the potential is still there.

My suggestion is to buy iRacing and start driving that track. Simulators will give you a serious advantage when it comes to learning the track. You will be familiarized in one session vs. spending a whole day just trying to figure out the track.
I've never been there, but I've turned so many laps on it in iRacing that I have it completely memorized, I can close my eyes and drive the entire thing and if I time a mental lap of the track, I am always within about 5 seconds of the laps I can turn in the game. The cool thing is that it is laser scanned into the game so you even get an idea of where bumps/dips are in the track and everything.

Yea, I just watched a recording from a race in a Ford GT and I was super impressed with the quality of the rendering. The elevation changes, the gators and especially in T3 and 5. I noticed the dip in T12 driver left at bottom of hill. The cars reaction to the gators in the esses was spot on. I agree with you on the iRacing. Just wish I had a set-up.

I got a really nice wheel/pedals/shifter combo on Craigslist (Fanatec) for like 200 bucks.
Some of the best money I've ever spent as far as advancing my driving on the mental side of things.
The actual graphics aren't actually that fantastic, but the physics and detail in the track geometry are why I got into it.

Great videos Don...I can honestly say I learned RA from the champ! :D
I tend to turn in/apex slightly later in T1 & 6 with the SC8 and it works well with the extra power
Not sure what your P/W is...just something to consider
My laptime is a 1:36 and I'm sure there's room for improvement...Marcos posted a similar time his last visit there as well

Nice time Levi, for me, turning in later scrubs speed. Many do turn in later but if you notice, I'm back in full throttle where you may be trail braking. Slow in fast out with an earlier apex has its rewards in an underpowered car. Now in a Pettit SC build like you and Marcos drove would be fun to see the difference.

Absolutely, especially in an NA 8 and I do have a tendency to trail-brake T1 lol
That's one thing I can say about Don; he has the ability to get on the gas a hair quicker than most drivers which makes his exit speeds impressive

Back from a great weekend.. I think we finally got the suspension where it needed to be. Now I need to deal with fuel delivery issues; my fastest lap included stuttering while entering the last straight at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit.
