I was your neighbor. It was a wet and wild weekend.

Unfortunately, my Racekeeper broke down so I don't have any video.

It was a wild weekend. Rain, heavy rain, light drizzle, bright sunshine. For Saturday's Stinger race a Spec E30 car did a Pablo Montoya into a tow vehicle under yellow, which caused a chain reaction pile-up with Spec Miatas. The race was red flagged after a lap and a half.

Ran two races on Sunday. First race Saturday was used for qualifying for the afternoon race. Was able to pull pole position for the afternoon wave.

GOTTA LOVE VIR! My favorite track so far.

7sins: Great Paddocking with you. Hope to see you again.

Stephen, confirmed SCCA will recognize my NASA license so looks like I'll be running a few regionals this summer also. Let me know if you're are coming over to Mid Ohio this year.

Congrats on a great weekend! Where you running W2W? (Sorry I am terrible with the NASA classes)

I don't htink I will make it to Mid-Ohio, Its just such a big expense to get out that way for us here in NH. I have raced their and I do LOVE it but with gas prices so high it equals 2 other race weekends  Kinda goes back to that other sponsor thread we all laughed about on the other page here on RX8.com

We are definetly going to Watkins Glen though... maybe we could convince to come run a SCCA ITR event with your car! Last year is was the largest ITR field in the country :naughty: about 15 cars in class...

Hey Stephen

Yes, I was running W2W. That was my first pole. I still have lots of race craft to learn. Our wave included the PTE cars and SE30s.

I'm trying to get some help classifying my car for SCCA. Not sure where it will run. I've called them and left 2 messages without a return call.

I would love to run Watkins Glen. Keep me informed, maybe I'll come out for that. It's on my list of tracks to do. Is that a regional or national event. I don't have a waiver for Nationals yet. Regionals don't need one, they will honor the NASA competition card. Just don't feel like paying for a waiver.

Mark,

Honestly Regional racing is much better. I bet I get flamed for that but the IT fields are much stronger (at least here in the Northeast).

You could run in T3 at nationals but probaly not big fields and in Regionals possibly all alone. You would follow the rules for T3 cars and the spec line for the specific car is on page 720 in the GCR (which I posted below) If your car is stock this is most likely where it would be placed BUT I am not really sure how much you have done to it...

I would (and do) run in Improved Touring R (ITR). In this class realistically if your car is stock you will probably be a bit behind but you would have a better chance of racing someone. The best part about the RX8 is that it was classed with a 10% HP gain. So the only real stuff you need to do is suspension and then realistically you would be within 10% of the leaders. However some of the leaders in IT have 50+K invested and go very fast! I hope to stay with them at some point! Just remember for IT you would follow all IT rules and the specific car is listed on page 413 in the GCR (Posted below)

Next up is STL but the car is not classed well in that class. They intentionally put it at 3000lbs knowing that it would not be competitive but gave it a place to play if we wanted. This class is new to SCCA and hasn't really taken off yet.

Next is STU which is to world challenge specs (Like Erics car) This class is also newer to SCCA and not really taken off yet.

Next is EP (Production) which is even more money! but you can find those specs on page 526 and 527 in the GCR. Only 1 that I know of in the country out west on CO I think.

Then GT2 or GT3 both tube frame chasis like Grand-am cars!
