Who's coming and what ya bringing???

G-ReX 05-06-2008 12:08 PM

Bringing my 8. First time on a real track. I need to get my pads changed to Hawk HPS's that I have and change the fluid to DOT4 before then.

So, do you have to be a registered participant in order to get into the gates? I am very interested in just getting inside and watching the events and talking with others. Is that possible? Any info would be great.

Side Note: I would like to participate, but cannot due to helmet rules (i.e. I can't fit in my car with one :p)

Thanks in Advance!

It's my first time, so I couldn't tell you for sure. Since it's a mix of class time and track time with an instructor (not racing), I'm not sure how exciting it would be to watch or how much free time the participants have. You could email a link on the site to find out: http://www.mazdadrivers.com/contact.htm.

My head gets tipped a little sideways with a helmet. I don't notice it in autocross, but we'll see after multiple laps on a track.

I do not know about spectator rules. If I had to guess I would say you could get in under a "crew" status. Good luck and let me know if I can help.

If you have not purchased the fluid yet, I recommend going to the nearest Ford dealer and buying some Ford High Performance----it has a 550 degree boiling point and sells for around $4.00 a can. I have not found anything better for the price.

Good luck and see you there.

Spectators are welcome at the MazdaDrivers events. At the gate you will have to sign a waiver. If asked, you are a crew member for the "Rotary Diagnostics Systems" car. Look me up when you get there. Black 2nd gen RX-7 with all kinds of company decals on the car.

They also have an event at VIR on Labor Day weekend. My RX-8 will debut at that event.

Man that sounds great...thanks for lending a hand!

I hope the weather is good.

Glad to help. If you would like a ride/drive around the course, be there at lunch time. They usually allow parade laps for participants with passengers or most times, non-participants with their own cars. You're welcome to take a few laps with me or probably to drive your own car.

Just look for the old guy in the paddock area next to the black 2nd gen with the company decals.

Larry
