Engine Classification for Events?

So I'm doing an Australian Pursuit this weekend and they have two classes based on engine size:

< 2.0 liter
>= 2.0 liter

Will they put the 1.3 liter RX-8 in the < 2.0 liter class or would they be likely to class it as a 2.6l (because it fires twice as often) and put in the higher class?

Has anyone encountered a situation like this?

(this might be the same reason why they banned the rotary engine from Le Mans )...

Usually, rotaries are classed in displacement x2.... so it's like having a 2.6L

There is a 20B prototype car running in the American Le Mans series. I'll be at the race in Portland tomorrow. It is also being shown live on Speed Channel at 5(?) PM PST.
