Belt Length for A/C Delete
 

Did a bunch of research but couldn't find this info anywhere.

I'm in the process of building my RX8 to be a track-only car so I want to remove the A/C condenser to improve cooling (and save weight), and figured I should remove the compressor while I'm at it.

Does anyone know the correct size belt to use when deleting the compressor? I can't seem to find this info anywhere and I'm sure I'm not the first person to do this...

well when i look at mine its just a second belt on mine so you should be fine removing it cause theres nothing else that belt is powering
but i could be wrong
All i saw was a free spinning pulley for another piece for the ac belt
someone else also confirm would be cool
but in my understanding you should be fine how it is with the stock belt u have atm

You can buy the speed source pulley kit which had A/C delete, but not sure where to buy them from, have been wondering this myself for a while.

The A/C compressor uses a separate belt.

it's own dedicated separate belt/pulley/adjuster arrangement at that :rofl:

the Speedsource pulley kit is distributed through Mazda Motorsports, but you could probably get it through Mazdatrix and several other vendors at a higher price if you're not a participant there. The crank pulley gets smaller while the alternator pulley gets larger. It's still within the factory provided adjustment range with the OE belt.

you don't necessarily have to delete the AC arrangement to use the Speedsource kit, you just need the additional proper pulley to do so

So its simply a job of removing all the A/C components and compressor belt?

Depending on what you want to do, it is as simple as removing the belt and as complicated as removing everything TeamRX8 mentioned plus the A/C fan unit behind the dash.

Some of the dash AC parts tie in with the heater system. Some rule sets allow modifying one, but not the other so be sure you understand what's ok and what isn't before you start ripping components out.

Thanks guys, I will have to keep the heater I think as it gets cold where I live and it still gets driven on the street few times a month and to the track.

Leaving at 5:30 AM to go to a track day when its freezing outside wont be fun.

Any more details ? I am thinking too but is it effects as i hope that much ?

After A/C removing revving sense & power figures ? What pulleys are used and what's the feeling after doing these ?

I never use my Butt dyno, but when I do, it says 5 ponies with the Speedsource pulleys.

In reality, I have no clue.

This has been stated before: With the Speedsource pullies, the alternator is underdriven considerably to the point of only charging north of 2,000 RPM (which is not a problem for a track only car)
