Autocross C-stock limits

hey guys, I have a '06 that I'm trying to keep in C-stock for a while and was wondering what I can get away with to keep it there. from what I understand, I can change out the cat back, rims (though keeping same size), and the struts (but not springs) is there anything else?

I brought it for it's first run two weeks ago, and it did pretty well, except my Catalytic Converter threw a CEL and for some reason a plug wire came loose on my last run.

Stock no longer exists, replaced by Street category. Still pretty limited mods though.

Stock and street will exist side by side for 2014. Stock disappear in 2015 with only SSR surviving the change. Stock for 2014 will use the existing 2013 Appendix A and street will have their own. To indicate the difference between stock and street, any car running stock will now have to add an r after their class designation, ie CSR, street will use the old stock designations, ie CS.

SCCA Board of Directors Approves Street Category Proposal For Solo Program

TOPEKA, Kan. (October 11, 2013) – The Sports Car Club of America Board of Directors unanimously approved a proposal by the Solo® Events Board for Street Category cars in the Tire Rack National Solo program, beginning in 2014.

The Street Category will feature cars that are essentially off the showroom floor, with specified modifications. Tires in the class must be designed for highway use on passenger cars.

Tires in the Street Category must fit the following specifications:

1.Effective 1/1/14 – Minimum UTQG tread wear rating of 140
2.Effective 1/1/15 – Minimum UTQG tread wear rating of 200
3.Molded tread depth of 7/32” or greater as specified by the manufacturer
4.Listed in a current year of prior two years of the “Tire Guide” and/or “Tread Design Guide”
5.Department of Transportation (DOT) approved

The class will allow sway bars on the front or rear, and have a wheel diameter allowance of plus or minus one inch. Despite earlier proposals, there will be no camber allowances via camber plates, bolts or slotting.

“Participation in the current Stock Category is declining at a rapid rate, and data and feedback shows that the vast majority of the membership that would participate in this class would like to switch to ‘road tires,’” Lisa Noble, Chairman of the SCCA Board of Directors, said. “Classes with road tires have the largest participation numbers in regional competition, and since this potential rules change came to light, those who participate in the class have voted with their attendance. We anticipate that trend will continue as the Street category classes earn National Championship status in 2014.”

In addition to the new Street Category, for 2014, the current Stock Category will remain in place and be renamed the Street-R category. All 2013 Stock classes will become Street-R (SR) classes and follow the rules which were in place for Stock at the end of 2013. For 2015, the Street-R category will be reduced to a single class, Super Street R, for high horsepower machines.

“This has been a long process for the Solo community,” Howard Duncan, SCCA Vice President, Rally/Solo, said. “The SEB believes, and we agree, that this change does not alter the game, but will encourage more participants, as 72 percent of the letters the SEB received on the matter were in favor of the change. We’re looking forward to welcoming back members that we haven’t seen in several years, and introducing new members to the sport without requiring a major investment to the cars they already own.”

A more complete list of rules, along with the classifications of cars for the new Street Category, will be available in the October Fastrack® News.

More information on the Tire Rack SCCA Solo program is available at The Sports Car Club of America - Solo.

That's not entirely accurate. They didn't make any changes to the existing brake line rules when they added 'street', so just as with previous years cars made before 1992 can use them but newer cars can't, in street and street-R.

Howdy,

Changes you can make and still remain legal in C-Street (which exists now and replaces C-Stock entirely in 2015):

Wheels & tires:
* Wheels must be 8" wide with offset within 1/4" from OEM (so, 44mm to 56mm). Diameter can be +/- 1" from factory. So if you have the typical 18x8 rims, you can run 17x8's or 19x8's. Most folks are choosing 17x8's.

* 200tw tires (140tw for 2014 only) of any size that fit legal rims.

Suspension:
* Any shock with up to two adjustments, not including gas pressure. Koni yellows are very common. Factory springs must be used in the factory location.
* You can change one swaybar on the front or rear, but not both. No restrictions on replacement swaybars.

Drivetrain/Engine:
* Any catback exhaust that meets sound requirements and which exits in either or both factory location(s). Undercar dumps are not allowed. Stock cats are required.
* Any air filter, including none.
* Direct replacement ignition kits like the BHR kit may be used.

This is a summary, and I'm leaving out nuances, so if you're seeing a big hole to exploit, I _highly_ encourage you to read the actual rules here: http://www.scca.com/assets/2014%20So...%20reduced.pdf (this is the 2014 rulebook in draft form... I don't expect there will be significant changes, other than minor cleanup of typos or whatever).

Howdy,

If you really want to run in the old C-Stock, which is in its last year, take the above list and make these modifications:

* DOT-R tires like the Hoosier A6 are allowed.

* wheels do not have a +/- 1" diameter allowance. For most, this means you must run an 18x8 wheel.

* exhausts are not required to exit the car in a factory location. Dumps are fine, as long as you meet sound. Stock cat still required.

For 2014, that class is called "C-Street-R" or "CSR".

Nice summary Mark, now to see if I can drive my own car well instead of just other people's. :-).
