Adjustable tie rods?
Anyone make quality adjustable tie rods for the 8? Need to fix bumpsteer issues and google search is only coming up with questionable quality options (Megan, etc).

That's an unusual solution to an unusual problem on these cars. It's a double wishbone suspension, so bump steer in stock configuration shouldn't be that much of a problem? That's why nobody makes a kit.
You can try to find one off a NC Miata since most suspension components are interchangeable, but even there, it's really only a problem when people start swapping engines and moving steering components around. |
I sort of agree, with the exception of extreme lowering maybe, geometry is not likely to be perfect at what would have been the extreme end of the travel range.
only set from JP that I know of is SuperNow saw some the other day and now can’t remember where. I thought these seemed a bit better than some, but the biggest overall issue is how cheap or not they went on the heim joints. Those can always be replaced with higher quality if they wear quickly though. Good heims cost $$, but a high initial price is no guarantee you’re getting a quality heim end unless you can confirm the exact part being supplied. I use the AE kit. SuperNow is high quality stuff too. Good luck :)

Ordered some of the P2M ones as at least the tube is steel and it uses castle nuts for safety. As said will upgrade the rod end as needed but at least the basic starting point is there. Thanks guys. |

i asked Mazdatrix, who races their RX8 pretty seriously. They use megan racing and have not had any issues with them. They seem solidly built: heavy components and quality looking joints. i know megan isn't the first name to come to mind for quality, but in this case their could be worth a look.

PS, i've removed my suspension and plotted bump steer in the rear throughout range of motion/travel. RX8 gets very, very little bump steer in the rear at reasonable travel (centering around 13.5" ride height)
