the emissions warranty is 8 yrs/ 80k miles, so if you have under 80k miles on your 8, the dealer should replace it at no charge.

Just get a mid pipe. I bet it will be cheaper. But I also don't know California emissions regulations... In my county in Ohio, we can run straight pipes and no one really seems to care.
