Why are you needing it? Most people remove it when they install the AFE short shifter.

I had an AFE and sold it a while back when I got my ACT clutch
now I'm missing the piece
theres too much of a whining noise coming from there so I want the piece back

It doesn't make any sense to remove it, RP shifter or not. Where do you people get these ideas?

I bought the car with an AFE so ... technically I personally never removed anything..

Sorry, that was directed at the person who stated people are removing them with the RP/AFE shifter, which is how you got into this mess. There's no fitment issue so it doesn't make any sense not to re-use it. Not only is it quieter, it helps prevent smells, fumes, heat, etc. from entering into the car.

A new one is almost $80 MSRP, but on the bright side based on the same comment mybe someone will have it laying around. Otherwise I wouldn't hold out much hope.

You might try to reach Paul or Sheldon at Mazmart in the vendor area. I wouldn't think there'd be much demand for these and they've torn down a bunch of manual trans RX-8s

I got it, pmed you.

I'm sure you have read the AFE shifter thread and it was stated that for some odd reason the material actually caused the shifter to be louder. Sounds stupid but multiple people stated that. I tried it both ways and sound didn't change so I kept it on there.

TeamRX8 03-30-2010 01:52 PM

I ran it without issue. This forum has a lot of misinformation. IMO it's a lot louder without.
