I just discovered recently that my 8 has them. (they were tarnished)

Yikes.......the chrome finishers are so thin I don't know if they would even stand up to that abuse for very long.

What exhaust do you have? I have never been a fan of exhaust tips that stick far out, but I would prefer tips that stick way out than to melt the rear plastic trim.
