Rx8 R-Magic Ohlins Coilovers
5 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, I have a set of R-Magic Ohlins Coilovers for the Series I Rx8. I bought them used when I had my 8 but I never had a chance to put them on. Since they were used and pretty expensive I wanted to make sure they were in good shape so I took them to Renn-spec, a local euro shop that handles ohlins. They ended up sending the whole set to Performance Shock Inc. in Northern California. They are a very reputable shop and you can check them out. They tore the whole set down to check out all the internals and ended up rebuilding one of the rears i think. After they got them all back together, they balanced them out and there ya go, practically new R-Magic Ohlins. While all this was going on my 8 got totaled and alas i no longer have a need for the amazing coilover set I just got back.
Please do your research, Ohlin's are a well known and reputable suspension company. R-Magic is also well known in Japan. These are ultra-rare coilovers, probably because they are pricey but also because they are R-Magic. I also fished out my hyper rev mag, which if you aren't familiar is a JDM magazine focused on a single vehicle. R-Magic is featured along with a lot of other Japanese tuner shops. The coilovers are pictured along with the spring rates. I can't guarantee these spring rates though since it's my understanding that PSI balanced the set to all be the same (research coilovers and you will learn that some brands have less consistent rates among a set). Note for Mods. I posted these earlier but after delay of receiving the invoice i was unable to edit original. Please delete original FS thread. Edit: Price Drop to 2500 |

So these are normal Ohlins with an R-magic sticker or are they special?
Well its not a sticker but I can't honestly say what R-Magic did to them, unfortunately I can't read Japanese. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can enlighten us as to what tuning shops generally do to coilovers.
My guess, öhlins usally build shocks on order from race teams, race shops etc.. That is öhlins core business. This road and track öhlins is something new and seperated from the core business. So what you have is probably r magics specially ordered öhlins. If that is correct then it is race shocks for racing compared to road and track öhlins.
That might explain why it took them like 4 months to source the correct replacement part lol. Thanks for the info.
Aha then they are made in Stockholm in special order for r magic.
Do you see any serials? If so mail öhlins Sweden and they may have saved the spec. |
nice, didnt event know r magic made coilovers
Price Drop to $2,500.
Did you Find any serial no?
I'm actually at my parents for christmas break and so I can't look for serials. I'll be back in a few weeks and can check then if there is that much interest. Please don't rob my house while I'm gone lol.

whoever snags these is one lucky bastard
Yepp its interesting but i would like to speak with öhlin about the spec first :)
Im only interrested if the are race spec coilovers and not street spec coilovers.
Still have these, they are just waiting in my garage for someone to grab.
Met two engineers at öhlin today and this is yamaha built dampers. Its gen 1 road and track.
You have to drop the price, sorry to say it. |
Are these similar in construction as these:

I believe they are similar but not sure if they are the same generation. I'm also not sure what changes R-Magic made to the setup. My assumption is that they changed the spring rates and valving.
Dropped price to 2,000 btw. |
You've got PM

Good price. PSI (Performance Shock) does good work. GLWS. :beer05:

Sold! :D:
Good seller.
Installed them this past weekend. DFVs are much more smoother than my old Koni's with OE springs, set to full stiff (C-Stock). Happy buyer! |
