RX-8 Rims & Tires for sale

For Sale 2007 RX-8 Rims and Tires $1100

These rims & tires came off a 2007 Rx-8 with 3100 miles on it, (Vin # JM1FE173170213633) located at Low Country Mazda in Mt Pleasant ,SC 843-852-6060

I traded the rims on my Mazda Speed6 for these RX- 8 tires and rims on 6-16-08
I am trying to sell them because I want to buy a set of Mazda Speed forged aluminum (Rays) 18 x 7.5 Hi-light silver rims and a set of 225/40 series tires.

The RX-8 rims are 18”x 8” Five Spoke, silver painted with Dunlop 225/45 -18 SP Sport 8090 tires. The rims and tires have about 3600 mile on them as of 7-02-08.

The original cost for rims is about $580 a piece (total$2320). The tires sell for $300 a piece locally (total $1200) or you can get the tires at Tire Rack for $264 a piece plus shipping.

I will consider selling tires and rims separately only if I can sell the tires first.

I will take $400 for the set of tires and $700 for the set of rims. You pay shipping.

I would say the tires and rims are in good/excellent condition. See attached pictures for tread and tire condition. There is no curb rash on rims.

I will also include picture of the silver 2007 RX-8 located at Low Country Mazda , Mt Pleasant, SC with my Mazda Speed rims & tires.

Located in North Charleston, SC 29420

Yeah dude are you serious? $1400 for some stock RX8 wheels? You will be lucky to get $600 for them..

Asmoran 07-03-2008 07:21 PM

Indeed. Stock rims usually go for between 100 and 150 each around here.

its 580 a rim from the dealership, if you ding or have serious curb rash on them, after taxes its 600 a piece for the rim. i tryed to buy replica or refurbished rims that cost 220+ tax and shipping. ive seen rims for sale online and even localy for 175 a piece that were pretty rough, ill keep them before i give them away.

yea...I paid $550 for 4 Speed6 rims with tires here. If you want these to move at all you are going to have to come down a lot. Also, you may find better luck selling these on Mazda 6 forums as they really like our stock rims. We all have a pair of these and for the kind of cash you are asking most everyone would go to aftermarket rims.

BoostedBlack6 07-04-2008 01:40 PM

Thanks for your input. I am new at this forum thing. I am 51 and not into forums and chatting. I was just using this forum, Mazda 6 forum and Craig list locally as a way to try and sell rims and tires so I can get my son the tires and rims he now want, Light weight Rays 18x7.5 and a 225/40 tire. My son is 17 and the car is basically his only I make the payments.

I noticed the Mazda 6 forum has rules about not making negative or ignorant comments unless merited. I am not referring to you but some of the other post.

Considering a set of 4 rims cost $2320 new in south Carolina from the Mazda dealer, plus tax or shipping and your close to $2500 and the tires will cost $1200 to $1300 with tax or shipping and then add the mounting and balancing your at about $3900 total for tires and rims new.

The tires and rims I am selling have less than 4000 mile and are like new.

I have look at tire rack and I know you can get different rims and tire for less.

I have previously stated the tires and rims I have seen for sale on forums were in rough shape. I personally would not spend $800 for rims with ding and curb rash because I like my stuff to look right. I am asking $1000 for rims in nearly new perfect condition. I do not think $200 more is somehow outrageous.

One 225/45/18 Dunlop SP Sport 8090 tire new cost $300 locally and $264 at tire rack plus shipping so I do not personally think $500 plus shipping is unrealistic for a set of 4 tires with less than 4000 mile on them.

If you know of anyone interested in a set of like new RX-8 18x8 five spoke silver rim & tires please give them my phone number 843-270-2750 or email at bsommers@knology.net

Thank you, Bobby

DeViLbOi 07-04-2008 03:04 PM

Well I wish you luck in selling them.

kday 07-04-2008 06:31 PM

HOLY Cow Dung thats expensive! someone just sold a set of rx8's for $400 wheels and tires

Gecko69 07-04-2008 11:41 PM

I just sold my work wheels for stock rims and 500 dollars.....you wont get the price you are asking for them......its like trying to sell a stock cat/midpipe for what the dealer sells it for - 1100 dollars. the dealer marks up everything. and the stock tires are not a desirable tire for most people.

sebarx8 07-04-2008 11:45 PM

:smokepoke don't buy the cheap shit man you see what happens hahahaha

RX OCHO 07-05-2008 12:35 AM

987HYS 07-05-2008 09:08 PM

a lot of mazda 3 owners want the RX8 wheels, go after them...

JantzenRX-8 07-05-2008 10:30 PM

It took me well over a month to sell my near perfect stock rims and tires for $450. I went through like 5 near sells before they finally went. Good luck to you.

Suggestions

Don't know if this helps, but I've been looking at 18" stock rims for several months since I have my original stock set covered in winter tires, and figured a second set for summer tires would be better than taking the two sets on and off the rims indefinitely. I have a set of Kumhos with 90% tread that obviously came off the stock wheels, and can't spend what I'd have to for a set of OZ Ultraleggera's at TireRack.

I have been searching for a while, and several sets of pristine RX-8 rims recently sold or were offerred for $550-600 in this forum (you can check earlier threads if you want). I'd be willing to pay $600 plus the cost of shipping if the rims are true and there's no rash and no significant dings as you say. I'd be willing to add $125 for the TPMS if they have it. I honestly don't need the tires until my Kumhos wear out since I prefer them to the Bridgestones.

Anyhow, they're your wheels and you can ask whatever you'd like for them, but I think you're going to scare a lot of folks off with $1000 for the wheels alone.

Thats a very realistic offer right there and a worthy one!

I'm a Mazda 3 owner (refering to a prior post ^^) and Yes, there is a healty interest in these OEM RX8 w/us :) Although the 45 series tire Doesn't work for us, we require a 40 series

Just FYI, I picked up my set local, in MINT condition 5k on them w/Dunlop Sport 8090 225/45's (Listed in a FS thread on this board ~cheesygrin~ ) With TPMS included for................ Well lets just say, I was very happy :lol2:

Good Luck w/your Sale and a free bump to you Sir

I told Fate, the guy who offered $600 if i did not sell rims in the next 7 to 10 days i will sell the rims for $700 no tires. He has not responed to my message.

I was going to put the rims on the mazda 3 forum but when i read the rules it said i had to have 50 post. I do not know if it would violate the potocol but I would appreciate it if you could let mazda 3 forums guys know I have set of rx-8 18x8 5 spoke silver painted rims for $700. I do not have the wheel sensors. the tires and rims have less than 4000 miles. I have posted pictures and vin # of the rx-8 i traded my speed 6 rims for.

If there is a way i can post rims and tires myself on mazda 3 forum let me know how please. I am not that computer/forum litterate. my son posted picture tires and rims.

My Phone number is 843-270-2750 and email is bsommers@knology.net
I live in north charleston sc zip 29420.

I will take $450 for the Dunlop tires 225/45-18 sp sport 8090. they retail locally for
$300 a tire and you can get at tire rack for $265 plus shipping

buyer will have to pay shipping.

I am trying to sell these rims and wheel because my son now wants the mazda speed forged aluminum rays 18x7.5 lightweight rims and a set of 225/40 tires

Thanks for any help. Bobby

TopGear8 07-07-2008 01:48 AM

^Dude, do you really think you will get $700 for just the wheels, and no tires? You won't be able to get $700 even if you include the tires. I'm on this forum everyday, so I know what stock oem wheels go for. It doesn't matter what the dealer sells them for. You will probably only get $500.

kersh4w 07-07-2008 01:55 AM

you will have problems selling them for $500 + shipping.

$1400 is ludicrous. everyone has these rims, why would anyone want them?

lazyboyw 07-07-2008 02:16 AM

the only reason I can think of getting them would be if someone's going back to stock to trade it in or sell. If that's the case, logic dictates that they'd try to find the cheapest wheels they can find.

southernsurfer 07-07-2008 07:57 AM

I tried to educate :wiggle:

FYI~ The members over on the M3F are fully aware of this site, along with others and those that are looking for a set of RX8's im sure have seen this post.

Fate 07-07-2008 08:47 PM

$600 or $700

After I offered $600 for the set, I got an email saying that after 10 days, if no one else bought the wheels, I could buy the wheels alone for $700. I still think $600 is more than fair and that's my offer, but we can talk in 10 days.

For other folks, maybe I am being too soft here, but I am willing to pay some premium for wheels that are in very good condition (that said, some more pictures would be nice). With winter and summer tires, I had hoped to find a second pair of rims rather than taking the tires on and off all the time. Wheel weight is a big concern, and I think the stock rims are roughly 20 pounds per rim, which isn't bad, as opposed to at least $1200 for new rims that are maybe 2 pounds lighter. Also, my car has TPMS, and I have heard mixed things about whether aftermarket wheels accomodate the TPMS sensors well or not. Advice is always appreciated, but that's the reasoning.
