Genuine Mazdaspeed Front Bumper Cover - Lightning Yellow, Needs Work - SOLD

SOLD!

For sale, genuine Mazdaspeed front bumper cover. Lightning yellow, has rock chips and bug guts. I should have the original paperwork it came with as well. The black plastic part is not included and the front spoiler on the driver's side is cracked and separated partly from the bumper section (see pictures below).

Basically I took the car to a tire shop to have new tires put on and apparently the tech wasn't paying attention during the lowering process. What I believe happened was that the front spoiler got caught under a lift ramp and pinched it, but I can't say for sure since I just saw the aftermath. Luckily she wasn't damaged in any other way. The guy wasn't going to work with me at all so I just went through my insurance company to get it replaced.

Replaced only because of the cosmetic factor, nothing was dragging or loose or anything but I couldn't have my 8 looking like that. :)

I am asking $350 obo plus actual shipping costs to try and recoup some of the deductible cost to get it replaced. If you have any questions or want a specific picture feel free to ask, might be a little more difficult now that it has snowed but I will do my best.

Thanks!
- Jon

Edit: Should add that local pickup would be fine with me as well, I am about 40min south of Madison WI.

not genuine. thats why youve got no bites. maybe do a bit of the work yourself, primer it, call it what it is and youll likely see it go bye bye.

Is no Mazdaspeed bumper genuine on here?? LoL.

Anyways, It IS genuine. Its made of metton (you can tell by the yellowish color in the cracks) It has the splash gaurd mounts, It has the mounts for the crash bar cover and the oil cooler ducts. All holes are machine cut not bodyshop.. :yesnod:

Too the OP, goodluck with your sale seems like everyone has a hard time believing any bumper is authentic on this website.

looks genuine to me. all the clips and the finishing on the side marker mounts look as they should.

my apologies to the op. seems i was mistaken.

I did a little research (previous threads) before posting and figured there'd be a discussion about genuine MS or not, that's why I took all the pics and offered to take more. ;)

And thanks to rotoryfan1991, I now know my bumper's made of a runny French cheese :beerchug:

Thanks for looking guys!

Just curious, most of the Mazdaspeed parts have a MS sticker or label on the parts, does the MS RX-8 body kit got these MS label on it as well? If yes, then it's much more easier to identify, I guess?

i couldn't really tell in the picture, but is the front 'lip' (black piece) ripped off also? or is the damage mostly on the side where i see the zip-ties?

That is a separate piece. I'm not sure if the dealership used my old one or just didn't save it for me, but either way I do not have it. I've attached a scan of the MazdaSpeed painting instructions I received to illustrate that they are separate pieces.

Oops, I think I probably misunderstood your question, I thought you were talking about the license plate area. Yes, the spoiler lip (black) is separated from the vertical (yellow) part where they meet. I think I might have a picture of it while it was still on the car that show it better.

Yep, here it is on the car still. You can see it's broken right at the point the vertical meets the horizontal. That extends to about the halfway point of the opening for the driver's side oil cooler, where it comes back together and then the rest of the bumper is fine. BTW those zip ties and black paint (?) (a different shade of black and was still sticky when I got home) were not on it when I dropped my car off, I think someone there tried fixing it a little bit before they decided to tell me about it.

uh why's the back of the bumper so... dark?

I'm assuming primer? I don't believe they'd have any reason to paint the backside, the yellow on there is overspray.

Mazdaspeed got those sticker/lable on most of the FC and FD parts back in the days. Mazdaspeed FC/FD bumper MUST have a MS sticker or lable inside. And that's the proof of it's authentic. Mazdaspeed didn't continue this habit on the new cars like RX-8 or MX-5 or whatever???

Here are example of an authentic Mazdaspeed GT-Concept bumper for FD3S:

bumblebeerx8 12-21-2010 01:59 PM

the way i see everone telling the difference is the MS uses the browish metton material and the bumper support cover other than that i dont think there are distinguished markings. this looks authentic to me just not sure how easy metton is to work with as far as repairs

Ka Kui 12-23-2010 01:16 PM

So you guys are saying an authentic Mazdaspeed RX-8 bumper doesn't have any MS label inside or anywhere????
