Custom D585 Ignition Setup
2 Attachment(s)
Alright guys, so I am going to be selling my custom D585 setup. I am not going to really go into the detail of what the benefits of a setup like this are, especially for those who have a cobb or other piece of tuning software.
The kit includes: Custom bracket made from an OEM S2 coil bracket 4 D585 Coil Packs RX8 to LS2 Harness** Everything that I include in this kit works, but there is one modification that needs to be made prior to installing on your vehicle. The reason that I removed this from my car was to hunt down an issue with high rpms. Once I removed the setup it became clear to me exactly what was going on. Between seeing first hand, and doing some research, the following modification will need to be made to ensure that you dont have the same issue: ** The harness that is included with the kit for the most part is fine, except for the ground wire. When I had this installed I had some arcing which is a common indication of a poor ground. It is highly recommended to trim the ground wire on the harness as short as your install permits, and ground the harness directly to the engine block. This will ensure that your coils have the shortest and cleanest ground. There are other members here that have this harness and have claimed that this fix has provided them with a stable setup. The cost of the kit is 275 shipped, but remember that plug wires aren't provided. The coil packs work fine and have been tested with an HEI spark tester. The only reason I haven't reinstalled this is because I am just too lazy and at the moment I have some brand new OEM coils that will hold me over. |
it likely has more to do with OE dwell settings, my ground is pretty long; all the way to the front support rail where the radiator fans are grounded :dunno:
excellent price for somebody though, bump |
honestly you could be right, but i wouldn't know for sure since I wasn't able to adjust my dwell while they were installed. I just didn't suggest that only because I know that there are other similar setups without an issue (as far as I am aware).
But like yoou said, you have a similar setup without a ground modification. I just wanted to make sure I disclosed everything in the OP. Thanks for the bump good sir (and for the advice way back when I started piecing it together) |
the length of the wire is not as much a factor as wire size and type, and contact. there's not enough distance in a car to get a voltage drop.
