xmatt's California Videos/engine sound
Well, my Mac :) opened the QT files with no problem. They seem to be full size and quality, and I used my variable bitrate MPEG encoder to make MPEG-2 files. I'm going to burn them to DVD using DVD Studio Pro, so soon I may be watching the RX-8 in action on my television! But I digress...
Boy, does that Renesis sound HOT when it drives by! Quite an exotic engine sound- love it. Some have commented that it is barely audible in the cockpit... if that is so, it is truly a shame. Everyone in the thread that xmatt started was talking about computers, not the sound. Did anyone else pick up on that luscious Renesis sound? |
Yeah I did. Nice and tough but not as tough as a (see below)

Oh yes, definitely picked up. It sounds really good thru my DVD player. I don't have a DVD burner, so I went the XSVCD route. I took the 2 Mazda Racing tv spots, the RX-8 clip (red on track and black on snow), the Rotary Engine segment from History Channel's Modern Marvels, the JP commercial, the X-Men car unveiling, and a Mazdaspeed history bit from Autoweek, and edited them into a 20-minute program. Encoded to MPEG-2 @2500 kb/s using TMPG, burned to SVCD using Nero 5.5. It came out pretty nice, too.

Glad somebody decided to comment on it :)
I drive a 3rd gen rx-7 every day and I love the sound. The 8 has that same rotary tone, but it seems to sound a bit more... refined than what I'm used to. Like somebody said, though, man can I not wait to hear the wail at 9k rpm. matt |
I wait to hear this symphony hours and hours and hours. And I will within some month ... eventually.
