who would like to be in an advertisement for RX-8's?
 

so, i'm in a computer art class at CSULB and our new assignment is to create a car ad.
here is the assignment...

Create a magazine ad for Scion Cars.
Use the concept of individualism and customization as the underlying theme. Come up with a concept that could help sell the car. You must customize the car in some way, new wheels, new paint job, etc. You must define your audience. Who drives Scion cars? This project involves integration of type and image. From a purely technical perspective this project will involve using both Illustrator and Photoshop.

since he found out that i'm really interested in rx-8's and a photo major, he's letting me use an 8 instead of a scion. so what i ask from you all, is to send high resolution photos of your cars, your mods, or, if anyone is in the socal area, we can meet up and take some photos. the LAX meet is next wednesday, so that would be quite conveniant. i already have some ideas for the background of the ad, so now all i need are photos of the cars that you all worked so hard on. and they don't have to be 8's. if you've done any modifications on your other cars, those could work to. thank you! and i'll be sure to post the final project when i'm done! :)

sounds like a cool project. i'd like to see the finished product.

i'll be sure to post it and point out who's mods are who's since i'll be taking each car apart to make one super 8

I'm sure you dont need it, but Im a photographer as well and have a digital camera, assortment of lenses, and Lighting if you need any help.

All I have on my 8 right now is HKS exhaust so it may not be to much use to you for your project but if you need help Im more then willing to aid a fellow Photographer.

well, if you have any high resolution photo's of your car, that would help! it doesn't have to have a great background, as i'll be using illustrator and photoshop to modify that part later on. but if anyone has pictures, do post!! :D:

Anything specific you are looking for in the Images? Side shot, front, back... all of the above?

Its a lil late for me to break out all my lighting equipment right now to pop some shots off but I can definitely do it tomorrow when I get home from work.

all of the above. i'm thinking of doing a two page ad. one with the car and the cool background. the second possibly with some interior shots (if anyone has the footwell light that Rotary Rasp made, that would look awesome), and different angles of the car. for the big ad, i don't want it to be a straight on side shot. i'm going to take some photo's of some 8's from slight angles, but still showing the side of the car, since that's the majority of it's body.

Awesome, Sounds good. I have a nice lil fish eye that will give a cool effect to the angled shot of the body.

I'll fool around with it tomorrow evening and post some images up for you to look at.

Another good idea might be to have someone with the Nav system and put a smaller image in that of something... like a picture within a picture type of thing. Anyways just a thought because you were saying you wanted interior shots too.

But first... GOTTA WASH IT haha.

yaaa! well, Rotary Rasp has the computer that he built in his car, so, when i'm done with the ad, i could put it on the screen for the interior shot...might look cool

Yah I saw some shots of that thing... its SICK lookin. But you are right might look pretty sweet in where the navi goes.

I have it in my car so Ill pop a couple shots of that tomorrow as well for ya.

ooooh, this sounds like fun! I volunteer for the interior shots: stereo, radar detector, Nordskog digital gauges, and footwell lights FTW.

Well, I don't have an 8, but there were some spectacular pictures that were taken of azathoth's rx8 and were posted in a previous thread. Pretty amazing imho.

Anyway, I bet you can use some of the interior shots that were taken, but to be safe, ask him first.

also, another part of the project was to sell the car by incorporating the consumer's interests. so, i'd like to know what you are all interested in. what activities (you don't have to necessarily do them), music, travel(?), sports, art, etc. let me know what drives you in life, what you look forward to, what makes you happy.

i already have some ideas to incorporate, like having the background be an industrial looking area (found a place in Torrance. looks kind of like a lumber yard/metal workshop...pretty sweet) and then having the car positioned in the middle of the area with a group of people surrounding it, kind of doing their own thing, maybe some b boys and girls, skaters, taggers, and then surrounding the car. not sure if it's gonna work, as these are just brainstorms and as we know, in art, alot of things are better in theory since everything works perfectly in your imagination.

so when do I get to bring my car? ;)
