UK VIP Inspired RX8 Build

Just bought my RX8 231
Plans are some new wheels, New backbox or full system, some Coilys, :cwm27:

Just getting used to the FMR setup. Love the Rotary Power 9500 Rpm is awesome!
Heres a pic then some specs,

https://3.bp.blogspot.com/_jE0n16EpG...1600/RX8+1.jpg

Standard Wheel Specs,
Rims - OEM RX8 5 spoke, 18*8j et50
Tyre - Bridgestone Potenza 225/40/18

The wheel and tyre setup seems pretty stable, although the back can skip a little on launch, a staggered setup should improve this.
Proposed future set up
Rims - Front, 19*8.5j, Rear 19*9.5j
Tyre - Front, 225/35/19 Rear 255/35/19 probably Nitto or Toyo

First few things to car, gave it a good clean and Valet Both the exhaust pipes were filthy,

https://1.bp.blogspot.com/_jE0n16EpG.../Exhaust+2.jpg
Although they cleaned up well, I think I'll be looking for a new backbox, with 4" pipes rather than the standard 2.5"

Have a quick look at my blog for more pics.

Fair sized update on the RX8,
Got Some new shoes, Fates in 8j and 9.5j flavour et35.
Wearing bridgestone potenza 225/40/18s
offest and width work pretty well. maybe some spacers but unsure.

Coilovers are next to sort the arch gap but before that;
I've bought and fitted a ToyoSport CatBack exhaust, which gives a pretty good tone all the way through the rev range, (sports cat soon?)

The car is currently in the bodyshop getting smoothed rear and front, So no badges all round. not many RX8's with this done i think.

Some pics of the wheels and the exhaust, iPhone quality sorry.
HQ pics will be shot when car is back from paint shop ^_^

Pip.

Interesting. Those are crazy rims.

Krazed_Rx8 10-23-2010 02:26 PM

Hmm your aiming for VIP status? Not sure if this is the right car for that.

Aipex8 10-23-2010 02:33 PM

Not feeling the rim/tire setup. Why stagger the rims, but have same size tire all 'round? Stretched look in back but not in front? I mean, if you like the stretched tire/VIP look you should have gotten 9.5" in front too.

Other than that it's looking good. You chose the right color!

Roidz 10-23-2010 02:35 PM

Not feelin the wheels, but the rest of the car looks good.

9krpmrx8 10-23-2010 03:38 PM

Nice ride, the wheels are different but to each his own. I am debadged in the front and love it. Next up for you is a subtle kit. FYI, I am staggered and running 245/40's all around.

RX8inSTL 10-23-2010 04:02 PM

Those rims just don't look right on that car at all in my opinion.

Also it does look kind of stupid with a aggressive strecth in the rear and none in the front. I guess whatevr floats your boat though.

StuttgartRX8 10-23-2010 04:26 PM

Sorry the rims are terrible on the RX8

Kaiser bun 10-23-2010 04:41 PM

+1 on not feeling the rims, it looks to me like they belong on a lexus or a lincoln or something.

dlum125 10-24-2010 03:15 PM

VIP rx8?? this will be interesting!

Brettus 10-24-2010 03:29 PM

I don't get the whole "stretched" look ..

rodjonathan 10-24-2010 11:12 PM

Like most here... like the car, but the rims don't look right.

But I do get what you're trying to do.

Good Luck!

this has nothing vip going on srry you fail if you had some weds kranze or some work euro lines or something slammed on a kit and black with ice maybe but this is just an ordinary 8

Just coilovers and Induction kit planned for now,
Decat is fitted,
Possibly have some Work's for show season.

I guess I applaud you on trying to be different, but those wheels just look clunky on that car imho lose those wheels stat you could get some big 20" rims that would fit your VIP idea and look infinitely better on the car... those look like they belong on an FJ or a hummer, or maybe a big s class benz but god not on an 8.

Renesis07 11-09-2010 05:06 PM

Not a fan...... Kudos for doing you and not paying attention to haters though.

Cant judge a project halfway through completion so Ill reserve further comments until its done.

The Reverend 11-09-2010 05:09 PM

+1 you definitely have some good ideas workin and are going about it the right way so :icon_tup:

PhillipM 11-09-2010 05:12 PM

+1 on the wheels don't really suit it tbh.

Atilla 11-09-2010 05:17 PM

+1 w/The Reverend

You're going to need to go more extreme with the wheel fitment n' stance to achieve the VIP look.
