Tired of Gran Turismo 4? Get ready for ENTHUSIA!
 

This is a PS2 game that wasn’t on my radar screen. I just happen to be in Japan when it was released in March, so I just had to get it. It’s a great game! I suspect it should be coming out in the US soon.

OK, so its clearly a GT4 wannabe, but it comes very close! The graphics are terrific, but still a notch below GT4. The tracks are very interesting, with more dramatic elevation changes compared to GT4. There’s a ton of cars, many of which are not in GT4, like the original E30 BMW M3 for example. The driving physics are great, but it does take a little getting use to if you’ve been playing GT4 non-stop since you got it.

The game progression is different in that you acquire cars by roulette after you win a race, and depending on what car you’re using, different cars will compete against you. You need a quick eye to stop the roulette on the car you want. Once you get a car, you can level up its tires, engine, and suspension. Adjustments can be made to the suspension as well.

The unique thing about this game is that you also acquire Driver HP (points) that levels up your status and opens new racing levels and tracks. But to get driver hp you need to drive without hitting walls, going over curbs and crashing into competitors.

All in all, a very enjoyable alternative once one tires of GT4.

awesome!! I've been following this one a while as I thought it was supposed to be on the Xbox (or that was the rumor anyway) Glad to see it's out, hopefully won't be long before it hits the states.

FORZA is the GT4 wannabe that's coming for the Xbox. After a long drought, there's gonna be a bunch of similar driving games out in the market.

Those photos are cleaned up shots of the game. It's not actually that clean when you sit down with it. Supposedly, it looks slightly worse than GT3 but still very good according to my friend who downloaded it. Physics are supposed to be VERY good though. I'm buying it.
