The Rearender Got My Wife's Car

To All,
I truely hope that this does not happen to you. My wife has had hers (RX) for almose exactly one year, with no dings or anything. Back when Mazda gave the five hundred dollars and the free scheduled maintenance for four years, for over writing the power. It happened no more than 3/4 of a mile from our home. She is alright, nothing in the passenger compartment was moved or touched, that crumple zone really worked. Hope to see her (the RX) in around three weeks.

The Rearender Got My Wife's Car

Here is a picture at the Body Shop, we are in Marietta GA, and have Ed Voyles Collision behind thier Chrysler/Mitsubishi Dealership, working on it. My wife was making a left turn, she was stopped, no light or sign, and the rearender approached quickly from the bend behind her.

The damage to my 8 was far less extensive than yours. Just the front left quarter panel and bumper messed up. It still took just over 4 weeks to fix. Hope yours doesn't take as long.

My wife is fine, they are expecting around three weeks to fix the car, of all things it was a 91 Oldsmobile Achieva!

Sad to see another 8 in pain.... for those who may vaguely remember a posted wrecked 8 about 7-8 weeks ago... I still haven't gotten mine back... $10,500 worth of damage caused by one of Maryland's finest, they say I should have it by the 13th.... either way, sorry to hear about your misfortune and hope it doesn't take nearly as long as mine.

That's horrible!

I think I was the last person to rear-end my wife. We both emerged without a scratch, but did experience slight sensations of disorientated euphoria. :D :D

Oh wow, I'm glad nothing happened to your wife! That's some extensive damage! Hopefully your 8 will be lookin like new in no time. My brother got rear ended in his VW bug by an old lady with 1 leg. But his car was no where near as damaged as that... I definitely felt bad for the lady though, she ended up payin $2,500 out of her pocket cause she didn't want her insurance to go up.

Hey since you're here in GA give us a call if we can help with anything. We've had 4 RX-8s so far. 770 455 4848. Maybe I can save you a few dollars.

Thanks for the offer

On the parts, thanks for the offer, we figured if the insurance is going to pay, and the collision center said they are purchasing all the parts from Mazda, we'll role with that, but I do have the number just in case.

More Updated Pictures

These are photo's just before they begin assembly, it is taking a while to get all the parts in, the rear suspension unit just got in on the 10th of Aug, it's been there since the 24th of July. Hopefully we'll see a lot of progress within the week.

Conclusion

To All,
By the way, Ed Voyles Collision did a fantastic job on the wife's car, it has been about a year now, and no problems. Highly recommended staff there with very professional attitude. I just had an incident with my 350Z and they did the work on it as well, I couldn't tell if it even got hit at all. Only about $3,000 worth of damage. The collision center is located in Marietta, GA off of Hwy 41 AKA Cobb Parkway, behind Ed Voyles Chrysler.

I am amazed at how well the 8 took the hit, makes me feel better knowing the 8 was designed so well. The crumple zones worked and absorbed the impact. Sorry about your ride, but glad that your wife is alright!

Was this the beginning of the "Silver Curse"?
That looked like more than $3K worth of damage. Mine was hit in the rear side door & fender and that was $3K to get it repaired. It also took 3 weeks. It just got out of the body shop last Friday.

Glad to hear your Wife is OK. If it was a good hard hit she may want to get checked anyway.

I think he was talking about his 350 when he said it cost $3000.

40mph to a dead stop

My wife's 8 was at a dead stop and the car behind her was estimated at doing around 40mph. Total damage cost, over $10,500. Execellent safety rating according to my wife, I give it two thumbs way up.
