Nice pics of the SpeedSource Mazda. Next race is this upcoming weekend. Did you see SpeedSource's win at Barber a few weeks ago?

dreamtheatermetallica 04-22-2012 01:10 PM

no i didnt. is there a schedule? what channel is it usually on?

JCrane82 04-22-2012 01:51 PM

I think it is always on the speed channel

never knew they used the renny for the 3 rotor, just thought it was a regular 20b.

interesting...

They don't.

monchie 04-22-2012 03:22 PM

That's the car they used at the Rolex racing events.

bse50 04-22-2012 03:31 PM

Thanks captain obvious.

RIWWP 04-22-2012 03:35 PM

Actually he is private obvious. He has been demoted quite a few times...

so they are lying on the sheet?

it says R20B Renesis 3 Rotor.

ShellDude 04-22-2012 04:11 PM

so that's $100,000 per rotor?

dreamtheatermetallica 04-22-2012 06:55 PM

thanks for the link...i will have to start watching.

I know, I can read :)
It has "some" rx8 parts but what makes the renesis a renesis are the side ports which that engine completely lacks.

Thats what i was confused about, thanks for the clarification:icon_tup:

There should be some info posted here already...
They basically use 13g parts (peripheral ports) and some of the renny's internals i reckon.
If the engine has a 10:1 compression ratio you can guess which parts already :)

something that spins in rotary fashion?:rollingla

Seriously, thanks for the clarification. Like many people here, I've been following that car for a while by watching some of the racing events. I knew all along it had a 20B engine in there; and I believe this is the information they put out anyway.

But this is the first time I read anything about "20B Renesis." So the photo above was quite confusing:scratchhe

There are numerous sources out there that discuss running Renesis rotors in a peripheral port setup, street and track. Not that much of a stretch at all to believe that a race team (that can't go FI) would be using the higher compression rotors.

dezau 04-23-2012 03:28 PM

wish they displayed a 787b :(

Totally agree.

I guess the first thing that came to my mind when reading "20B Renesis" was the side ports not the higher compression rotors.
