Please no street racing
See what happens to the pros!
His parachute didn't even work. Even under controlled conditions speed is dangerous. Learn from a instructor at the track if you must, but please stay off the streets. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Wkza181QY4 |
well personaly i allways check , and double check my parachute everytime i leave the house
|
That's why I only streetrace in heavier cars and I avoid saltflats at all costs.
|
You mean like the new Chryslers Ike?
Charger, Magnum, 300 I heard the Salt flats are dangerous. Now we can see. |
good tip, did you learn that from your track instructor?

Racing beat RX7 Bonneville Attempt
I would presume that the afficianados on this site would know that was the Racing beat attempt to set a land speed record in its class in (I think) 1993. That attempt obviously failed at something approaching 230mph.
They re-did the paint job in black, made some minor aerodynamic changes, and came back to set a record. Black cars are always faster. :mdrmed: Those salt flats act like sandpaper at 200+ mph. Info on the racing beat website in the 'Photos' section. |
you presume right......that clip has only been seen about 1,000,000 times over the last 12 years
|
wasnt that the clip of Racing Beat trying to set the RX high speed record? I heard they came back and ended up breaking the record... with the same car!! I'm not sure if it was RB or not, can't remember
Note To Self: Do not attempt to break speed records on the street. Thanks for the info guys!! -hS |
ok nvm... i just saw the post above :p:

Wow. Talk about a perfect example of why street cars just cannot safely reach those speeds without the aerodynamics to keep it on the ground. What I found more impressive was that even after flipping over and spinning around the car was STILL running. Betcha if that were a piston engine it'd be toast at that point.

Why would someone think thats a street race? Am I the only one that sees sand and a guy in the car with a helmet on?
