pic request: front air dam with splash guards

I'm looking for pics of an Rx-8 with the only front air dam and splash guards f/r.

I know this isn't exactly what you're looking for but maybe it'll help you a bit. I have the appearance pkg on my car but just focus on the front half of the car and maybe it'll help...

Thanks Tiggerlee. Your car looks sharp. Unfortunately I have a VR and with a bright color the splash guards/air dam will stand out. I found a picture of a VR from one of the members, this is what I'm looking for. What do you guys think?

I know it's a lot cheaper to go with splash guards than the appearance package parts, plus the guards are functional. Too bad the air dam is not functional except for scrapping gum off of parking curbs.

Ok I've been trying to figure this out, and I'm a little ashamed I don't know this, but I'm sure someone here could help... What is the piece called that comes with the appearance kit and is the horizontal body piece in the front below where the front accent is... the part that is painted to the color of the car, but doesn't come on stock... It's in both the black and red pics above... is that the front air dam?? Just curious as to what it's called b/c i want to pick one up...

tiggerlee 12-05-2006 07:14 PM

Correct.Front air dam.Should've come stock imo. Check out the vendors section or you may be able to find on in good shape in the Parts For Sale section.

How easy are they to put on?? And I don't have any other appearance kit... I was thinking of putting on the front dam and lowering my 8... think it would look good?

tiggerlee 12-05-2006 07:19 PM

You'll need to remove the front bumper to install. Not hard to do at all. As a matter of fact there's a good DIY on bumper removal in the
DIY section.

Those pics you see of mine are after lowered with Koni shocks and S-Tech springs. It'll look great.

air dam / front lip.. but it is part of the apperance package...

tiglee...

party on bitch.. the roll on should be fun...

How much did you lower your car front & back?? Also, how low can the 8 be lowered before running into problems?

Don't have the exact measurements anymore.S-Techs something like 1.4" front and back .07" I'm sure swoope will know. He's da man.
Or you could go coilovers instead, like many other have done You'll have more room for adjustments w/coilovers.

You can slam it if you want. Just watch out for parking blocks, snow, small animals etc.Might wanna get the oil cooler and radiator screens too.

Didn't know if lowering too much would cause wheel to rub at all...

Also back to the front air dam, how come you have to take off the front bumper to attach... it looks like you can connect it just from front if you lift the car... maybe i'm just being stupid...

swoope 12-05-2006 08:00 PM

i dont know how the front air dam works. but the bumper is easy to do... takes a bit the first time...

and as to tire rub. that is more depended on tire size and offset...

my car is down 1.2 front and rear.. the rear is a bit lower than i would like...

stock tire size not a chance of rub..

beers

tiggerlee 12-05-2006 08:03 PM

Dealership installed both of mine. Said they had to remove bumper...take that with a shaker of salt. Might be another way, I'm not sure.
