Installed the side marker lights and parking lights --- > like https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...PIAA+LED+bulbs

LOVE THEM !

truemagellen 03-24-2005 06:56 PM

I can't tell from the pic...how do they compare in color temp to the stock HID?

I have super white leds but they are higher in temp and so look a bit bluer than the stock HIDs

cgrx 03-24-2005 07:00 PM

Not sure, but visually
they are pretty damn close in color

SikRedRX-8 03-24-2005 08:11 PM

Is ther another bulb that looks as close, that last longer? Also what fog light bulb would match the rest?

Funny, that eBay posting CGRX linked to says the bulbs will virtually never blow out. Guess it's an exaggeration...?

Mr. Ed's rx-8 03-25-2005 01:37 AM

i got mine from autoillumination and almost all have gone out in the past 4 months

i might have to try the PIAAs

BigOLundh 03-25-2005 01:53 AM

looks good man. those things are going to last you forever.

like i always say... piaas cost more than the competitors, but will not burnt out like the rest, and they look great too. great buy!!!

truemagellen 03-25-2005 02:09 AM

I've had one of my autolumination bulbs burn out in 6 months...

PIAA does cost more but comes with a nice warranty...if I did it again...PIAA or any higher end LED

PIAA leds make a big difference!

RX4life 03-25-2005 05:10 AM

i think PIAAs are over exaggerated... ive owned 2 pairs of h4s both burned out within 6-8 months of purchase... and with the second pair i was extra careful not to touch the glass..but still..

you are basically paying for the name.. but they do have a nice variety of colours and bulbs..but way overpriced!

anyways thats my opinion..

Yeah, used PIAAs in my MX5 for headlights @$80/set and every 6 mos they blew. Great light though...

i JUST got done doin the EXACT same thing!!! I "tried to adjust the color of the photos to what they really look like but the piaa still looks more blue than what it truly is.

truemagellen 03-25-2005 12:44 PM

ok so I'll stick to Autolumination they are only a few bucks for the LEDs and then so what if they blow every 6 months....especially if PIAA blows every 6 and they are $30 or more!

I think I know how to prevent them from blowing...a load equalizer like the ones I installed for the blinkers....this way they should last forever

JOHNRX8 03-25-2005 12:47 PM

I stuck the ones from autolumination in the clear corners and the piaa's in the driving lights. the clear corner ones are easier to replace, the driving lights are a pain. ;)

anyone have experience with Piaa LEDS blowing quickly ?

LEDs are suppossed to last longer

supposed to last longer but they are getting way to much power...that is where the load equalizer comes in...they remove the wattage of a incadescent bulb by converting it to heat which is dissapated through a mini-heat sink...then the LEDs are only getting the wattage they need

LEDs are pretty sensitive to higher watts...I'm not suprised they blow so quickly

cgrx 03-25-2005 02:08 PM

shizzle !

G8rboy 03-25-2005 03:55 PM

I'm surprised so many people like the LED's- the ones I've seen in person are dimmer than my hyper-white Polarg incandescent 194's, and I've had them in for 16 months now with no problems. I also didn't like how 'directional' the light was coming from the LED cluster bulbs... you had to be right in front to get the full effect.
