My weekend @ SuperCar Life 250 Rolex Grand Am
 

Went up Sat, and Sun, to be at New Jersey Motorsports Park ThunderBolt Raceway this weekend to see the Grand Am SuperCar Life 250 to cheer on the SpeedSource, Hyper Sport and the #30(I cant remember thier name at the time), and of course the 8s in the Koni Challenge Series. Its a brand new track and for those whom watched it on SPEED yes it was a dust bowl, my car was covered in about a quarter inch of fine silt. They even had full course cautions if there was too much dust on track....It was my first Grand Am event and it was awesome, the other events that were there were the
Ferrari Callenge Series, Skip Barber Series, MOTO ST Series, and the Ford Mustang Challenge Series
Got everyones sig but Scott Pruett(Understandably-got seriously injured in thursday practice....

Talked to Sylvain, Nick, Jeff and Emil the car and setup, they were excited a few RX8Club memners were there cheering them on(All you Jersey/ Tri State peeps need to go next year) They didnt have any more large posters in the sig line so Sylvain told me to come by the trailer and he'll hook my up... He got a MazdaSpeed hat and a SpeedSource poster for me so I got the drivers(above) to sign it:worship: :worship: :worship: ,,,,,
The SpeedSource boys did what they could with the Oil leak(the car was covered in Oil when it finally came in the garage, Nick and Sylvain were kind enough to debrief us(myself, Bob-Midlifer, Tim-Stryker7, and a couple RX7 guys) on what happened, they ran 2hrs with one oil cooler,,, running at 285 degrees, Sylvain being the down to earth guy explained "you know I could have pushed it, but I try to put myself in the cars position and I treat the car how I would want to be treated" by nursing the 70 around the track to collect as many points as possible.
I took my dad up with me and Sat night we had dinner with the Hyper Sport guys, Turner Motorsports, Ruby Tues, and a couple of the Porsche and GXP guys were there also @ Texas Road House.....
Talked to the HyperSort guys about my car(they were outside on the waiting list to get in and they were excited to hear I was getting the Petit SC.....

Very nice! Reminds me of my trip to Lime Rock and seeing all the 8's.

Glad you had a good time.

On the other hand, anybody involved in giving the go-ahead to "race" on this "track" should be ashamed of themselves for putting so many people at risk for serious injury. I just hope they make the corrections (track widening, curbs, grass) before the next unsuspecting bunch arrives.

^^^:scratchhe the track is safe and race cars are very safe... with all the rain the NE has seen this summer the seed that was laid down got washed away give it a season and itll be a top notch track
as for the corner work and runoff areas same deal they couldnt do all that construction with mud,,,, and having to keep a cable sponsored tv schedule they cant just bump the race back a few weeks....

Man that looks like alot of fun, I would like to go to a race.

we werent able to get pics of the Oil failure but I saw it Midlifer later explained that Sylvain said that a piece of debris jumped up and pierced the oil cooler when they brought it in they looped the line,,,,
