Thanks Jim! A new issue has developed while in storage for the winter. Crank no start. Fuel pump kicks on but the engine does not receive fuel form the injectors. Thought it was flooded. It was not. There's zero fuel to the engine. I need to get the car home and run a fuel pressure test and see what's going on.

Didn't even mess with the car over the summer and I'm at a loss for it. I'll keep everyone updated with what I find. I would like tonget it back home over the winter and fix it so I can enjoy it next spring!

Heres where I'm at with trying to solve this issue with my 8 that's plagued me all year. I stored the car last December and went to pick it up this spring and I had a crank no start condition. Pulled the plugs and they were dry. Checked for spark and I had none. I checked all fuses and all seemed fine. I pulled the upper intake manifold off and checked injector grounds and inspected the harness for any broken wires or rodent chew. I found none. I then pulled the eccentric shaft position sensor and checked the resistance between pins A and B and got 1055 ohms. Cleaned the sensor and reinstalled and still nothing. Verified I have good fuel pressure at the rail and I have fuel pressure. Fuel pump can be heard priming. Looking for advice as I would love to fix the issue and drive my 8 again.

Do you have current and voltage at the inputs to the coils?

I'll have to check to see if I do. I did a bunch of reading this week and there have been many confirmed cases where a starter connection or the starter itself were faulty and caused a crank no start due to no injector pulse or spark. A connection cleaning or starter replacement fixed the issue. It honestly sounds so off the wall as I don't see how that could be the issue but I have a spare starter and I don't mind crawling under the car to clean the connections and then replace the starter if necessary. So I'll do that as well and report back.

Came across these pictures of my car over the holidays. Forgot I had them. The previous owner bought my car wrecked from a salvage auction and had it repaired. Before I bought the car he emailed me these pictures of the car to show me the extent of the damage before he bought it. Figured I would share the pictures. Really missing driving this car!

I haven't unfortunately. It's on my list of things to do this summer. I am losing storage on the car so I have to move it to my father in law's barn. It's that or it sits outside under the trees in my driveway. I'd rather have it protected. I need to order a starter and go from there I think. But I will definitely keep this thread updated!!

Try a different ESS? That was the first thing that came to mind.

I'll do that. I have spares to use lol. To be fair it did pass a resistance check and was right in the middle. But to be honest I dont think it can hurt to try another. They're easy enough to swap out. I'll head over to where the car is stored and do that this week and let you know what transpires!!

Jazer was spot on! I replaced the ESS and it fired up. First time its run in two years. Even though the old ESS passed the resistance check, it turns out it was not good. I replaced it with another ESS I had and now we are back in business!! Shes dirty from being in storage but I'll get her cleaned up and ready to roll!

Yay, awesome!!!

ESS was fresh on my mind, since I just did a compression test, therefore disconnecting the ESS to prevent the engine from firing.

Well you were my inspiration for deciding to throw an ESS st it since it did pass a resistance test. If you hadn't mentioned it I would have procrastinated on it a little longer. I'm more than happy with how the car ran and drove home. I aired the tires to spec and started getting the car cleaned up. Looking forward to driving the car again!!

Thank you bluetii!!! I've decided this year I'm getting everything I have to and running. I've been procrastinating too long on fixing my cars. Just some personal battles with myself really.

I've also been working on my 85 RX-7 GS that I put a 13B from a GSL-SE into. It ran great until a couple years ago and the other night I pulled the intake and found a bad injector. So that's another step in the right direction!!

Nothing wrong with procrastinating a bit. Sometimes we need to look away for a bit. I didn't touch my 8 for nearly a year. Partially because my husband was deployed at the time so with kids the time wasnt there - but at the same time, I absolutely could have made time if I reeeeally wanted to. I needed to just not worry about it for awhile. Now im full vested in it again. It's ok to turn your back til it sparks that joy again

I do agree with that. Making time is tough as I work two jobs and the time away has made me appreciate the car more. It's just sitting, waiting for me to renew the plates. Its insured, lol. I never took it off of my insurance just in case I got a wild hair to go do something crazy and get it up and running... glad I kept the insurance on it!

The handling is wonky since the front control arm recall. Though the alignment is in spec... that will be the first thing I address. It seems to want to drift to the left. I'm going to swap the front tires left to right and see if the pull changes. If so unknown I have a bad tire. If not, it's back on the alignment rack. Think I'll change the oil after work tonight or tomorrow and get a new set of plugs on order.

Got the car out yesterday after work and put some fresh gas in it and hit the highway for a cruise and to air the car out a bit and stretch it's legs. Nothing has changed and it still rides exemplary!! The a.c. is still ice cold and everything is just as I left it 2 years ago. Couldn't be happier to have the car back! Really looking forward to fixing a few things on it!

I've only driven the car here and there this year and decided to drive it to work yesterday since it was going to be a nice day and the roads were clear. The car ran amazing and it felt great to drive it!!

I installed a 2.0kw starter yesterday just to speed up cranking speed a bit. It made a big difference as I believe my original starter was on the way out. Next step is a better battery. My current battery was pretty weak yesterday and I feel its time to get one.

Always good to have the best battery you can for these cars. I also have the updated starter in my 2008 40th Anniversary Edition RX-8 among many other upgrades. Cheers and best to you.
