yes it does handle nice:) It wants to kick the ass out a lot though, but you get used to it after a couple of laps. I went out today, and I was going way too hot to start out with, and I got on the grass after the 2nd turn....lol. It is fun though!

road1will 10-21-2007 07:48 PM

Supra locking up the brakes?

california style 10-22-2007 05:18 AM

or more worryingly one of you is going the wrong way around the track...haha

MissyK 10-22-2007 06:01 AM

nice nice glad to c u had fun

L8APEX 10-22-2007 06:01 AM

yeah, is that TGPR. If it is, how is the new layout, and is it still a cheese grater on tires?

The 8 is very capable on the track, especially after a little seat time in it.

Herblenny 10-22-2007 07:05 AM

Yep! TGPR.. I've never been on the old layout but far as what others have told me, the new layout is better than before. Also, it wasn't too bad on my street tires.

Regarding smoking Supras (literally), they were having some sort of turbo issues (there were 2-3 Supras that were smoking).

L8APEX 10-22-2007 07:07 AM

good to know. I want to go back there one day, for a really short course, it was fun. When we rented it out, I went through 50% of my Azenis on the front in one day. Maybe the new surface is not as abrasive.

road1will 10-22-2007 07:51 AM

Yea when i was there it wasn't rough on my Kumho SPT's at all. I did probably 8 30 minute sessions and my tires held up very well.

Herblenny 10-22-2007 08:32 AM

Let me know if you guys go out there.. I had a great time and would love to do it again.. especially with some 8 owners..

L8APEX 10-22-2007 08:35 AM

it has been a while, it was almost 2 years ago. since then, it has gotten more and more expensive to rent the place, and we have not wanted to deal with doing a group larger than 10, so it gets a little too costly. that said, I did get a ton of track time that day. at least as much as I get with a full NASA weekend. i need to watch the TGPR schedule, from time to time, groups are renting it out on the weekend, and they have space.

Herblenny 10-22-2007 08:40 AM

It might be fun to get 7 and 8 owners together for a cheaper week day... Would some of you be interested in that? If so, I wouldn't mind doing some leg work.

For the Speed for Sale event, there were about 40 cars.. I got about 1.5 hours of track time and thought it was well spaced out.. And I had to come in at the last session because I ran out of gas;(

takahashi 10-22-2007 09:09 AM

Not sure if it is brake or smoke coming out of that Supra... I hope it is not oil

Razz1 10-22-2007 10:47 AM

Nice pics. Add RB sway bars and it's a world of differance!

I'm going to keep it pretty much stock for next few more track events to tune my driving skills.. then I might either upgrade the suspensions or take my FD out... Also, the 8 is a daily so I don't want to have to hard of a ride:)

mac11 10-22-2007 11:17 AM

sways wont make the ride any stiffer. It will just make it corner flat.

Herblenny 10-22-2007 11:34 AM

thanks Mac11.. I know.. I was just pointing out that I'm going to keep this car stock for awhile..

Yes sir, I would. As soon as it is warm enough. I am part of the Ga group with L8apex and Road1Will. Am sure we can work out a day if we can get a good rate.

Looks like you missed the apex! J/K, nice pictures, Mazdaspeed kit on RX-8 looks perfect on the track.

L8APEX 11-01-2007 04:27 PM

actually, that corner in that direction, he is probably right on line to hit a very late apex. ;)
