Had to do a little trimming to the border piece, but got it to fit nicely, no more gap around the head unit. Also showing how clean the system looks when not open as a display. If only the PO didn't gouge up the dash :-/

Shiney car :D Hoping it keeps it's freshly waxed look for a few days. Downfall of black - it looks dirty so quickly.

Side note - I don't normally park in the grass - had to wait for the hubs to move the GTO so I could pull back into the garage :P

Looks good Jazer.
Did you put the stakes on?
I think they look better without, especially BBs.

I can't get behind that flip up stereo..
I installed one in my 05 Sentra back in the Ft. Hood days.
Didn't like.it...

Installed a 7 inch(iirc)in dash touch screen in the 8, love it.

Debating what to put in the F250.

Oh yeah, Hi !

But before it does, it looks oh-so-good.

Hi!

I would have much preferred a double din - however, we pulled this out of the Evo when we sold it - so we already had it... and it is a million times nicer than the piece of **** that was in the Rx8 when I bought it, lol. Sound quality is better, allows me to put movies on for my kid if she gets bored, reverse camera, bluetooth, has the aux inputs for better compatibility with the Bose... so waaaaay nicer. eventually Ill put a double din in there but Im super happy with it overall. I like how clean and not eye catching it is when it's folded back in - for creepin eyes when It's parked somewhere. Don't like how it covers the vents, but again, folds away so not a big deal.

It does - tho, I also don't like how black hides some of the details of the car, everything sorta blends together.. but I do like the overall look... gives it a "darker" look. Not referencing color, lol.

Went to NC State so south of Raleigh is no foreign land to me. I'm currently living on the Durham side of the RDU airport.

Nice - my hubs is basically going to be working there - as an Apache pilot for the NC National Guard - they are attached right next to RDU.

Actually, considering the many curves and lines of the car - one could argue that it's "busy" - perhaps the dark color does the overall appearance a favor.

Dropped the car off to get the control arms done - When I sched the appt I specifically requested they order the bolts due to what's been happening to everyone else. She told me they had done 7-8 other Rx-8s without a problem, I said "okayyyyyy" knowing they'd probably need at least 1... well I got my update in the afternoon - one was so stuck they had to cut it out, and put an emergency order in to Mazda for the bolt. Makes no difference to me - my car is stuck on their rack without a wheel and it's my 1x a week car anyways.. They always give me a loaner, so here is the temp ride which is saving miles on my DD Subaru, haha.

Been a long time since I posted. Not much has changed on the car. New battery. New revised coil bracket... but took some pictures with my friend before she sells her BRZ, so here they are :P

^Should throw an S2000 in there as well.

I see a lot of Toyobarus around my area. Some of them have ungodly loud exhausts on them.

You also made me realize how dirty my car is. Thanks, BC rainter.

Haha I dont know anyone with an s2000 atm. My friends car is totally stock, she's not as big into cars (she rides bikes) so you couldn't hear hers at all with mine near it, lol.

My car is actually covered in dust. Thanks to it being later/dusk, you can't tell in these photos. Only the closeups, which I have neglected to post

I just went through the whole thread last night and look forward to more updates as well. Great inspiration as I am preparing to 'restore' a well-abused BB RX-8 GT. Awesome that wifey is the one keeping the fleet running and doing all the car enthusiast stuff.

How do you like the quality of the eBay fender strakes? I have the whole OEM accent kit, but my strakes are missing. Trying to decide if I should hold out for an OEM set or just get the aluminum aftermarket ones.

Thank you! Not much for updates lately. I had a baby a few months ago AND we finally just moved back home, so we've been busy. The 8 caught a ride home this time and didn't have to make the 9 hr drive again, haha.

Awesome! I look forward to seeing progress from you if you make a thread!

My fender strakes are the ABS plastic version (I didn't want aluminum, I would have painted them black anyways, so they were a better choice for me).. I forget the company name that makes them. Fitment is about 90%. There is a slight gap where they dont fit PERFECTLY to the corner of the body by the fender arch, but it's very minimal.

Congrats on the kiddo! Exciting stuff for sure. I'm sure you're happy to be back home -- same house or just same town? I really enjoyed our cross-country trip from Florida to Colorado in the Miata, but it was stressful and exhausting due to time constraints and weather challenges. I'm glad I did it though, it was a life experience and something I wish I had dared to do many years earlier.

Not much happening with mine so far. I isolated the engine issue to a blown coolant seal, so a rebuild/reman is in my future. I don't want to start working on it until I sell my Miata though. It'll be easier to drop large sums on the RX-8 if I don't have a car payment to be bothered with. Once running properly, I'll start working on clean up and visual improvements; I'll just have to keep admiring yours (and 9k's) in the interim.

Aw I appreciate that! Mine still has some work to go... but I picked it up for cheap with that as the goal, something to tinker with (as it's my 2nd vehicle). I would like to replace the front bumper next (small rock chips and paint spidering), the front lip needs replaced, and the hood could use a sand down and repaint (small rock chips). It's passable, but nowhere near as good a shape it would be in had I owned the car since new. My poor car has been abused, multiple (minorish) accidents, etc. I'd also like to start replacing interior parts with some of less wear too.

We own our house, we moved out of state for my husband's job (military)... so we rented it out while we were gone, and then moved back in. Worked out great, fortunately.

New Miata I take it? Too bad about needing a rebuild. Mine was rebuilt at Rotary Resurrection just before I purchased it. He is one of the few I would recommend due to his experience and knowledge.
